Lillard (and McCollum) late scratches for Portland in Atlanta. The additional loss of McCollum is a bit much but I'm still saying this counts.

Rondo a (sorta) late scratch. Quick look, Kings are 5-2 in Rondo's first game out the last seven times. The two losses were by a point.

Well, that lovely third quarter by the Kings sunk that one, but we have a great one tonight. Davis has been suddenly listed as out and the Pelicans get Gordon back.

Lowry late scratch. I think this qualifies.

I love taking a team the first game they play without their star player. What typically happens is the team missing their star plays even harder knowing their main guy is out, other guys step up, meanwhile the other team tends to relax a little, knowing the other team is missing their star the tendency is to not play as hard thinking the game will be easier for them, it's human nature. Last night was a great example with Westbrook being out.

Last Sunday when it was announced Ryan Tannehill was out, bettors couldn't play the Bears fast enough, taking them straight up, and in parlays and teasers, it made sense, the Bears have a great defense, Miami was starting Osweiler, the Fins were also missing two offensive linemen and a third was in concussion protocol all week and only cleared to play a couple days prior. Logic said Miami would have a tough time moving the ball, much less scoring. So what happens, Osweiler throws for a career high in yards, doesn't get sacked, and Miami puts up over 500 hundred yards of offense and scores 31 points in a victory.

Remember, it has to be a team's star player, not just one of their good players, but a star. I've made good money over the years following this.

It's been a bit since we had an opportunity but Leonard out for Raptors. Raps are 3-0 (in big wins, too) in the previous three first games he was out.
