Cleveland vs. Golden State

Cleveland comes into tonight’s game off two games against much better teams in the Nuggets and the Blazers. Last night they won at Portland by 12 (106-94) because of how good their offense played. The Cavs shot the lights out as they hit 50% (37-74) from the field, 35% (7-20) from three-point land, and 83.3% (25-30) from the free throw line. As a result, the game went Over the total by 10 points. But playing back-to-back high-scoring games is not something the Cavs do too often. In fact, the last time the Cavs went Over in two consecutive games is way back in the middle of November. Cleveland’s defense has been terrific as they’ve held 15 of their last 20 opponents to less than 100 points. And in games in which Golden St fails to reach the century mark (it’s happened 9 times this year), they’ve gone Under in 8 of those games. In an earlier season meeting in Cleveland, the Cavs and Warriors combined for 222 points. However, both teams shot high percentages; Cleveland shot 58.2% from the field and 45% from three-point land while Golden St shot 46.6% from the field and 37.5% from three-point land. They combined to hit 18 three’s yet that game would’ve only gone Over tonight’s total by 8 points. With normal offensive production, we should see a much lower scoring game tonight.

MILWAUKEE VS. PHOENIX

Despite a recent three game winning streak, the Milwaukee Bucks aren’t a very good team. Prior to that unexpected bit of success, they’d won 3 of their previous 14 games & are horrible on the defensive end. That’s never a good thing when you’re facing the highest scoring team in the NBA. Phoenix is 23-14 on the year and are part of the logjam in the middle of the Western Conference pack.
Phoenix has covered five of their last eight games and has feasted on teams with losing records all season long. The Suns are 10-5 SU and against the spread against teams with losing records and catch Milwaukee in the second of back to back games.. The Suns have dominated Milwaukee in head to head play with a 21-4 SU mark since 1992, though the Bucks have held their own against the spread leaving Phoenix with a 14-10 ATS mark in the series.
Just a bad tactical matchup for Milwaukee. They don’t have the defensive intensity to slow down the game and turn it into a half court battle, and they can’t win a shootout with their high scoring hosts. If the Bucks’ have tired legs from playing yesterday, it’ll just make things worse.
