"Another of the NBA’s stated corrective measures was to analyze statistical data for referees, which is interesting in light of Donaghy’s claims that a referee’s tendencies are a good way to predict the result of an NBA game.

Donaghy charges that veteran Dick Bavetta, for example, can be counted on to turn a lopsided game into a closer contest by intentionally making calls that would benefit the losing team, which could save face...."

The above scenario happened last night as Bavetta allowed the Clips to cover late. Unfortunately for me, the game went over.

Here's the best for Saturday....

Det/Atl: Nothing real big, but all three refs slightly favor road teams this season, and double-digit home faves are 9-15 ATS combined with these guys.

Orl/Wash: Road faves are 11-2 ATS with ref John Goble this year, and Orlando is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS the last 5 games with Goble on the court. Orlando is 10-0 SU and 9-1 ATS with ref Ed Malloy.

Den/Mem: Ref Matt Boland is 6-14 over/under this year with totals listed over 205 points, and rookie ref Kane Fitzgerald is 7-11 o/u in that same spot. This crew has worked 2 games together this year, both going under.

NYK/Dal: This is the one! Road teams are 41-11-2 ATS this year with ref Tony Brothers. Double-digit home faves are 0-6 ATS with Brothers this season. Road teams are 28-18-2 ATS with Ken Mauer this year. (This lines up nicely with the popular CM play against Dallas at home, noting that Dallas is just 3-23-1 ATS in their last 27 at home and just 1-15 ATS when favored by more than 8 points.)

NJ/Hou: Scott Foster, David Guthrie, and Sean Wright reffing. Nothing notable.

LAC/San: Double-digit home faves are 0-4 ATS with Curtis Blair reffing, and he is 5-10 o/u with totals between 195-205. Double-digit home faves are 2-5 ATS with Eric Lewis, and he is 9-12 o/u with totals between 195-205. Oddly, LAC is 1-9 SU/2-8 ATS in their last 10 games with ref Tom Washington, while San An is 8-1 SU & ATS in their last 9 games with him.

Tor/GS: This crew has worked 3 games together this season, all 3 going went under. When the total is listed above 205 this season Kevin Fehr is 6-10 over/under, Derrick Stafford is 8-11 over/under, and David Jones is 0-11 over/under!

Knicks was solid. Not the easiest ref game of the season, though. I had the under in a Knicks game that went under by 58. The next week I had one that went under by 49. Tonight, NY will only cover by 30-40.

Already on that GS under! Got it at 233.
