This is a good move IMO.

Phoenix has been trying the fast paced style of ball for the last few years atleast. EVERY time they fall short, and this years Suns team is NOT as good as the years past teams.

The west is very week, and the Suns have as good a shot as anyone in the west IF HEALTHY,

The lakers get one player Gasol, and they are the favorites in the west after just one day, enough said.

the west is just very deep...not weak. the east is weak as ****. when you have the lakers bench and their starters, they were already a favorite, now you upgrade from kwame to gasol...ya ur gonna move to the front of the pack

They will lose to the Spurs again in 7 gms Duncan over Shaq anytime. The Suns are still trying to find a pair of shorts for Shaq they tried to sew marion's and Banks together still too small.

Im not going to debate wich conference is better because it is Quality vs. Quantity and thats not debatable really.

But the west being more even matched this year doesnt make it "deep". The addition of Gasol to the lakers a few years ago would NEVER make them the favorites. Sure it would have put them in the mix higher then the 7 and 8 seeds they usually get, ut they would not have been favorites.

The fact that they are the favorite in the west now because of Gasol tells you that the West is wide open due to mediocraty. IMO The Lakers are the team to beat, but a healthy shaq on the Suns gives them a chance atleast, plus a healthy shaq would= Laker killer.

there are a few up and commers like the Blazers, Hornets that look nice along with the lakers, and some really nice teams in the EAST like celts, pistons and cavs but overall the NBA is terrible.
You have 10 teams in the west that all have a shot at making the finals, and its not that its deep its that they all play about as bad of defense as eachother. The west is diluted

For the last two years I have harassed Suns fans who were silly enough to think the run and gun would win them a championship. D'Antoni's desire to win a lot of reg season games and then blow the playoffs every year is why phoenix can't get it done every year.

Now, shaq to 31 other teams right now is a +, but to Phoenix is a cluster-****. What are they going to do, suddenly switch to half-court game now that Shaq shows up? Who exactly is going to teach all these offensive players how to slow down and play good defense?

Not D'Antoni. So 1) I think Kerr is putting the cart before the Shaq. They need to fire D'Antoni after this season and bring in a half-court coach 2) then, if shaq still has legs, he could help the team

but giving up marion with 16ppg and 10rpg was not smart imo

but they havent been able to win anything with that style of game in the playoffs EVER, and this years team is no where as good as the previous years teams.

This move will be a good one if he can stay healthy this year.

ur psycho...young teams like the jazz weren't relevant a few years ago either. its a matter of some teams getting better and some teams staying the same. the west has not gotten worse, they are still going to smash on any eastern conference team. and no...the suns will not do anything with shaq...he can be 150% healthy and still suck ass
