Should Shaq Retire

Yes, and keep the legacy/name he built these 16+ years
No, and look like a fool out there and barely score/rebound.

Sorry Jack

I did as well snowman. Shaq is absolutely in decline but the bottom line is he is still a presence and if Miami had any outside shooting at all - he would make a difference still. Is he dominating anymore? No. BUT can he still go for 15-20 a night with 10 rebounds? Yes and actually how many centers are there that can do this (probably less than 6). So a Shaq in decline is still better than more than 50% of the active centers

But a guy that plays every month or so is really just a waste of $$$. They are paying him a ton of money and he never plays. If I'm Miami, I want out of that contract to try and bring in someone younger to develop over time, because lets face it, you aren't getting anywhere with Shaq and the Heat the way they are now.

i said no. hes far better than the average nba center. id rather have him than erica dampier. granted the money he is owed each year is ridiculous, but in no way should he retire if its based on whether he can compete in the nba.

His name doesn't register anymore. I used to think, that he was awsome back when he was playing for the Magic and Lakers. But now he just doesn't wow anyone anymore.

Why? The guy leads the league in fg% and is still double teamed on every single pocession while playing hurt. His team is awful and D Wade has not been D Wade this year. At this stage in his career Shaq still provides you with a top 5 scoring force from the center position and by getting doubled every time he touches the ball the Heat get open looks all night long. The problem is they can't hit a wide open jumper. How did let go of Posey, Kapono, and Eddie Jones? Those were their 3 best outside shooters and none of them really cost much anyway.

Shaq is not the problem. I have heard that they will look to sign Gilbert Arenas or Elton Brand in the offseason plus they could end up eith the number 1 pick and would still have a mid level exception to use. The Heat could try to make one more push with Shaq next year and the following. No Shaq means no chance!!!
