System Play #2 - Let's try this again

OK - my first system play this year fell flat as the Bobcats beat the Sixers by 9 last night. For those of you that have followed my plays for the last 5-6 years on here, you know that it relies largely on the predictable stats of rebounding and aggressive defense. The one thing that trumps both of those is torrid shooting by our opponent coupled with bad shooting by our team. Last night was a great example.

Charlotte shot 55% from the field (vs. 39.5% for Philly). Additionally, Charlotte hit 8-14 from 3-point range (57%) while Philly was 3-16 (18%). Even if Charlotte shot 50% from the field and 40% from 3-pt range, we would have covered. (Take away 4 baskets and 2 3's - 14 points - we win)

Anyway...the reason why the system is so successful is because anomalies like the above have to occur for us to lose. We can handle a slight aberration in shooting - but it has to get ridiculous to beat us.

Well, tonight we have another play.......

Cleveland -8 over New York

Cleveland is one of the top rebounding teams in the NBA and playing great defense of late winning 9 of 10 with their only loss coming from another defensive and rebounding giant, Detroit. Tonight, they face the Knicks - the worst rebounding team in the NBA (thanks, D'Antoni) and playing with an undermanned roster to boot. Thomas and Mobley may play tonight - but I don't think that will make up for the mismatch. For instance, last Friday night Milwaukee pulled down an astounding 60 rebounds against the Knicks, winning by 17. The next game, they were even outrebounded by the pathetic Wizards. Cleveland won't mess around tonight - and I expect LeBron to be particularly interested since he his playing in front of his future home crowd fans.

Good luck everyone.

I will also be following the system all year! I usually also follow your football picks but I didn't see any this weekend. Thanks for the plays!
