Tuesday Game 6 Referee Stats

Boston at L.A. Lakers: (Lakers -6.5 and 188.5)

Mixed numbers here. Home favorites of between 5 and 10 points are 13-7 ATS with ref Joe DeRosa, who is generally helps the Lakers. Home faves in the same point range are a terrible 8-17 ATS with ref Ken Mauer and just 12-14 ATS with Monty McCutchen, who mostly loves home teams.

As far as the total, it's just more mixed numbers. With posted totals between 185 and 195 points, DeRosa is 10-10 over/under, Mauer is 12-14 o/u, and McCutchen is 14-8 o/u this season. Mauer and McCutchen are 39-35 and 43-34 in favor of overs this season, respectively.

it's actually not very mixed, especially when you look at the playoffs... they were assigned to game 6 between Orlando-Boston... home team win... game 4 LA-Phoenix... home team win... game 3 (or 4?) OKC-LA... home team win... game 1 LA-Boston... home team win...

that is the function of this crew... to try to get a home win for the Lakers so we will all be watching game 7 on Thursday...

we'll see if the Celtics have anything to say about it...

This exact combination of refs did not work those games together.

Mauer and McCutchen worked LA-Bos together on June 6th. That's it, that's the list.

my mistake... actually Mauer and McCutcheon both worked game 1 of this series and game 6 of the Orlando series... but it was with Callahan...

3 man crews rarely stay together, but certain combos turn up frequently...

that should have been game 2, not game 1...

Kobe should already have 3 fouls in this game... 2 of them were not debatable... there is and will be lots of home-cooking tonight...

Sorry, been out, but yeah, I expected home cooking tonight and again on Thursday.

Usually, by the end of the season, there are 2 or 3 crews that worked 6 games together, a couple more that worked 5 together, and even a couple more that worked 4 together. But there are 75 active refs in the NBA, so there are enough combinations that very few crews work more than a game or two together. Some refs are very dominating, though, and can have great influence over the calls of the other refs and flow of the game, depending on the personalities and experience levels of those refs.

Home teams win 80% of game 7's
Most elimination games go under
Kobe last night said, we need to keep up our defensive mindset in game 7

This last one I am not sure of...but if I recall correctly I believe the average margin of victory is 10 points in a game 7, that one I cannot confirm but the rest I can

think about the refs this way...now that the nba has a game 7 in the finals there are no more games to try and create. if you ran the nba, what you would want is a well-officiated game and that is what they will try for.

absolutely... i break down every game of this series with THAT very concept in mind... game 7 is their goal... they got it... should be a level playing field for the final game, outside of the fact that Boston lost Perkins...

early in the quarter Kobe hacked KG on a defensive rebound... was a clear hack, not debatable... there was no call and the ball was awarded out of bounds to Boston... but it was unquestionably a foul... a bad one...

late in the quarter, Kobe hacked Kendrick Perkins on the play that he got injured... they credited the foul to Bynum, but it was clearly a hack by Kobe... again, not debatable...

the 2nd foul was the only debatable call, a blocking foul, but most of the players for Boston were getting called for those same fouls all game long, so it was still a foul based on how the rest of the players were being called...

Kobe got away with murder last night... defensively he and Pau were allowed to do anything they wanted... here's the problem for Kobe... even though they were showing him ridiculous preferential treatment, he still whined and cried like t a little girl all game long...

refs don't generally take too kindly to it... we'll see what kind of favoritism they show him in game 7...

RJB... i've seen that play replayed almost 10 times now... Bynum cannot possibly be called for that foul, given the fact that Kobe hacked the shit out of him, and all Bynum did was move up behind him and bump bodies... the ref who blew the whistle was looking right at Kobe... but after a delay, charged the foul to Bynum, because he was in the neighborhood...

the refs were working hard to keep him out of foul trouble... take the blinders off, man...

i never said the game was determined by the refs... but the game was controlled and dictated by the refs... and they clearly had a "gameplan"...
