the way i see it

first and foremost, **** dan gilbert. the flaws in that guy's logic are too many to mention, and this is coming from someone who has always hated lebron james.

this guy (lebron) doesn't owe the city of cleveland a ****ing thing. period. he was born in ohio because his mother lived there, that's abou tit. dan gilbert was going to *** this guy more money than anyone in the entire nba but he's a quitter and a self appointed king. what does that say about dan gilbert? dan gilbert cannot dribble a basketball, this is -400

furthermore, the guy loving all of this more than anybody is kobe bryant. this will be the biggest thing that happens in the career of lebron james, unless he wins a 7th title (he wont). people who said he wouldnt come to chicago because he didnt want to be in jordans shadow have it all wrong. the guy's only legacy at this point will be that he was the most sought after free agent in sports history to this point. if he wins 3 titles in miami, what does that really do to his legacy?

i can appreciate that the guy wanted to go somewhere to win. there are a lot of guys in lebron's shoes who would have taken the money and worried about winning later.

at the end of the day though, lebron james went to dwyane wade's team to try and win a championship. but like i said, unless he wins 6 or 7, there will always be the stigma or asterisk around him that he needed to jump ship with 2 top 15 players to win a title.

kobe

i certainly agree with your points about Gilbert and the Cavs... i also agree that if they don't win at least 5 or more titles, this will not be looked on as a great accomplishment... but i also think those guys see it the same way, and are not interested in just winning 2 or 3 titles... they are trying to string together 6 or 7 straight...

we'll see... but don't be surprised if CP3 or Melo join them next year... so this could get pretty ridiculous...

this might be the last year for a lot of teams (or all teams) to have a legit chance, for the forseeable future...

Gilbert, who has owned the Cavs for five years, said he was most disappointed by James' behavior in the months leading up to the superstar's announcement that he is going to Miami to play with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Gilbert said James never returned a single phone message or text since the end of the season and that the Cavs were not informed of James' decision until he went on the air.

Gilbert said Rich Paul, one of James' business partners, called the Cavs moments before the announcement.

people are over looking this right here. The guy is leaving more than 40 million out of his pockets to play basketball with his buddies and win a title.

there is no better true kid like passion for the game...

think about it. this was like picking teams when you were younger and it was always fun to go play with your friends.

Especially if they are all stars.

lebron will more than make up for the "lost" money with new endorsements and jersey sales alone just by switching teams though, for what its worth

if lebron really didn't get back to gilbert that is beyond shady. at the end of the day though its lebron and no one else that has to face his friends back home and look himself in the mirror for how he handed it, if in fact thats how it went down

Agree. He doesn't owe Cleveland anything. The Cavs were lucky enough to have a ping pong ball come out with their name on it because they were a crappy franchise in the beginning. He gave them 7 great years in which he took them from the bottom of the heap to the NBA finals and the best record in the regular season..

This is quite simply the most important statement that can be made in breaking down this move... everyone who keeps saying they don't understand why he would do this...

think of it like this (people who have not played many 1000s of hours of basketball will not get this!)... when you showed up to the gym or playground to play basketball, you didn't sit there hoping to end up on the team with all of the scrubs, so that you could look like a superhero leading them to a win... if you happened to end up on the team with all scrubs, you make the most of it... but ultimately, you want to end up on the team with the best players, because... THAT IS THE MOST FUN!

basketball is a business, a sport, a marketing angle... yes... but before anything else, it is fun... and Lebron guaranteed that for the rest of his career (most likely), no matter what else happens... he is going to have fun every single time he plays basketball... because he is playing with the guys he most wants to play with...

i can totally understand that... and this is why i knew for the last 3 months that it was a sure thing that he was leaving Cleveland... because nobody wants to stay on the team with a bunch of scrubs, and that is what Cleveland has been for the last 7 years... Lebron + a bunch of scrubs...

Dan Gilbert can rant and rave all he wants... this ultimately is his fault for failing to assemble any talent around him in 7 years... that is inexcusable, and the fans of Cleveland should be blaming him, not Lebron...

during their press conference 1 question was heat down 1 with 0:03 left who takes the shot???

i could see down the road after a couple losses that some shit could come up. on a sidenote chris bosh sounds a lot like eddie murphy's white man voice.

Gilbert obv pissed at the way Lebron went about leaving and not giving him a heads up......I agree that Lebron doesn't "owe" Cleveland shit, but the circus that he created with the "decision" presser and the stupid ass shit he said tonight with Bosh and Wade at the "pep rally" was just too much......whoever gets these guys in the playoffs will be my fav team outside of Dallas! lol
