Who should be 2008 MVP?

I think it's going to be Kobe Bryant. Pretty hard to argue. He's averaging 28.3 ppg, 6.1 rbpg, 5.3 apg, while shooting 46% from the field and 84% from the line. He's played through injury and has undoubtedly made his teammates better (much like Steve Nash of Phoenix Suns has always done- but Nash won't get it again this year). He also hasn't missed a single game, while KG has missed something like nine games.

I think it should be Kobe. He's worked long and hard and is so dedicated. I seriously can't wait for the playoffs though! I just bought an awesome new 47" Vizio HDTV (This is the one I went for: http://www.vizio.com/products/detail.aspx?pid=42) and watching basketball is soooo much better! I also hooked up hd cable and it's so amazing! HD rocks!!

But seriously, though I think Kobe should get it, I do think Chris Paul has had an amazing season, but he's still too "breakout star" to win it. He needs a couple more years at least. Steve Nash deserves it of course, as always, but he's had his time to shine. Now it's all Kobe.

Best Player in the League, Kobe Bryant, no doubt.

MVP - Boston without Garnet 24 wins with him 65...how do you get more valuable than that?

Kobe will get it....

The media has fallen behind him now and kind of said enough is enough...we have to give him one....

I still think Cleveland without Lebron wins only 10 games...but without Kobe I dont know how many LA wins......

Boston/KG are hurt because of the mediocre records in the East...plus, KG did this for no other team so why now...it's because KG has two all-stars he plays with...Kobe and LeBron are surrounded by good players but not all-stars

With that said...I think Boston wins it all this year...Boston will have an easier road to the finals and they are more of a team that can perservere if someone has an off night

They remind me of the Spurs from the last 3-4 years

CP 3 for MVP Chris Paul gets my vote hands down, The Hornets would not be the team they are with out him. Here is a guy that truly makes everyone else around him better, even when the guy has a bad game shooting, he drops 17-21 dimes. West is an All-star and Chandler looks a totally different player. He was almost on the verge of being considered a bust if not a big disappointment. Hornets ˝ game from #1 seed and 26-14 on the road very impressive. You could see the rise last season when they just missed, numbers this year 21 ppg and 11 ast and a defensive presence, outstanding!!

I hear all the talk about Kobe, I agree he is probably the best player in the league and has been for some time, but basically, and this is just my opinion he has done nothing but finally be unselfish. Because he hasn't been shooting 40 times a game, the guys around him have been able to contribute. The could very easily lose in the first round to the Nuggets, and lets just say, if the Nuggets steal game 1, how quick will he resort back to the Kobe of last season. Adding Gasol put them over the hump, especially after Bynum went down, they would clearly not be in this position without that key pickup that costs them absolutely nothing in return. Similar move to the Hornets and the win the West by at least 5 games.

I also like Garnett, Boston had the biggest turn around in league history and its because of Garnett. I know Allen came over there too, but he doesn't defends, went through stretches of not shooting well, Garnett elevated and revitalized Pierce. If you take away Allen, Garnett would have still made the impact and carried the Celtics to the Playoffs. He would just pick it up on the offensive end and he and Pierce would be enough of a 1-2 punch to make it happen, especially in the East.

I don't consider James an MVP maybe most exciting, but not MVP. He has the numbers, no question there, he basically has played this season the way Kobe played last season, all the distorted stats, triple double this and almost triple double that, what difference does all that mean when you lose by 20 or blow 15 point leads at home. Since the trade the Cavs are 0-3 against the Bulls. I hear sportscasters and writers all the time talking about how he makes everyone around him better, who is he making better? This team will not get past the Wizards and then we will start hearing about how long his back has been hurting and what grave sacrifices he has been making for the team. I like James, but he has destroyed this team, they won 50 games back to back and if they were in the West, they would be spectators this Post Season, none of that equates to MVP for me. Cav's would have been better with Hughes and Gooden even if he didn't like them.

LeBron is the most valuable in the league easily, but Kobe will win his lifetime achievement award this year. It's happened in the past (93 Barkley) and will happen again in the future.

How is he most valuable on a team thats regressed? Are you speaking in terms of ticket sales and revenue? He puts up great numbers against bad teams, I know he gets triple doubles and almost triple doubles when they lose by double digits. He leads the league in scoring because he shoots more than anyone else. I'll give you that win or lose he will make a sportscenter hi-light. If you put Gooden and Hughes back on the Cav's and swap James for Paul, the Cav's with Paul would be better than the Hornets with James. I still like Washington in the first round
