Why did the Pistons ever trade Chauncey?

They suck now. He was the only thing that brought the whole thing together.

Bye bye Pistons.

So why not resign him? He was the one who made the team click. AI is worthless when it's all said and done, are they expecting to replace Chauncey immediately? Unlikely.

squad wasn't going to win anymore championships as it was, they had reached a plateau and couldn't beat boston or cleveland. Doesn't mean it will work, but sometimes ya gotta take a step back to take a step forward. If they were happy w/eastern conference semir's, they woulda kept him.

Chauncey had another 4 years left on his deal at 10 million per and Joe D had seen enough of this team.

Sheed and AI both go off the books this year and they will have about 25 million to play with this offseason if they choose or next offseason when that great class all hits FA. (Melo, Bron, Amare, Bosh, Wade, etc. etc.)

Like some others said the team had peaked with Chauncey and it was time to plan for the next step.

I know for a fact they are a worse regular season team without Chauncey but in the playoffs it might make a difference having Iverson.

In a tie game late Chauncey isnt able to create off the dribble the way that Iverson caneven though Iverson is no where near his prime.

They will take their lumps this year and possibly next until they reload again. I still wouldnt call this a rebuilding job because they will still make the playoffs and are still a decent team as is. Lets not forget when they are clicking they beat the Lakers in LA and have beaten Cleveland and have beaten the Spurs in San Antonio.

No GM makes all the right moves but before they had Dumars running things they were an NBA joke. Dumars is very capable and knows what hes doing....I trust him and wouldnt take another GM over him.

PEACE
