Well, on the bright side, they weren't at an all-time low.

i don't get how ratings work

like do they factor in the number of people at bars or people around the world who actually watch the games online

when i was a kid i actually thought neilson ratings had control over the cable wires and thats how they can tell numbers

these ratings are obsolete in these times but advertisers and networks still go by them

they did! you never watched those tv shows that showed the neilsen families?

They had boxes that look like cable boxes on top of their TVs and they were Neilsen boxes that tracked what they watched and when.

I'm sure they have the same at bars also...i cannot recall what if anything the family got in return but it was not significant

they had enough boxes out that the statistical sampling was valid to extrapolate for the whole market

today i'm not sure if it's the same but i would guess that it is

Interesting, especially when you consider that Game 7 of the Stanley Cup drew the largest T.V. audience in 36 years. I guess it is not the economy, but rather the product that is being put out.

i 100% agree with this, except wish that it was TNT doing the finals instead

Marc Jackson was really annoying I had to put the TV in SAP to listen to spanish

ABC is horrible

Comparing game 7 of teh Stanley Cup to Game 5 of NBA finals is like comparing apple to Orange

The NLH teams were loaded with superstars and were playing not only a decisive game 7 but also a revenge game for the Penguins because both teams met last year.

Non Lakers fans watch the lakers because of Kobe Bryant

There are a lot of Lebron James Fans

Who does Orlando have? I am not saying they do not deserve to be in the Finals

But Lakers-Cavaliers or even Lakers-Celtics ( two basketball dynasties) would probably be a better match-up

After blowing up game 4 I lost insterest in the magic and I knew they would lose the next game
