Local Talent
Off topic from sports but still worthy of a thread. Remember that untalented broad Rebecca Black who had a video that went viral on you tube and made her famous? Well f*ck that skankwanker we have a band from Burlington who has a video that's catching steam. This is talent boys and girls, check it out and enjoy! It's a cover, but amazing.....

Thanks, wasn't sure if I was really high or it was actually that good.

Burlington bands ticket to stardom | Toronto & GTA | News | Toronto Sun
TORONTO - It began with a video of five people using 10 hands to play an acoustic guitar at the same time. Two weeks — and more than 30 million hits on YouTube later — Burlington’s Walk Off the Earth’s cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” went viral. In doing so it caught the attention of the likes of Hollywood ears, and before the band knew it, they were whisked off to Los Angeles to play on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, which will air Monday. “It was a crazy cool experience,” Sarah Blackwood, who sings on the tune, said in a phone interview Friday from L.A. as the band waited for their flight home. “We’ve all been hard-working musicians for the past 10 years and it’s nice to see stuff like this happen. We’ve just been very busy, there hasn’t been any time to take a breath and soak up what’s been happening.” The four-piece band has been around since 2006 – formed most recently putting out covers of Adele’s “Someone Like You” and LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem.” Blackwood said singer/guitarist Gianni Luminati often chooses unique-sounding tracks to cover. Gotye, an Australian singer-songwriter, collaborating with Kimbra on “Somebody I used to Know” inspired him. “When he hears a song that hasn’t quite broken yet, he’s got a sense of where that song might go, we don’t pick one-hit wonders,” she said. “I recently got a personal email from (Gotye) inviting us to his show he’s playing at the Phoenix in March. He said, ‘Awesome job’ on the song and congratulations.” Gotye’s song climbed to number one on the Billboard charts recently and his video fetching over 46 million viewers since July. Blackwood said she’s astounded her band’s cover has snatched up two-thirds of the amount of views as the original version since Jan. 5 when it was uploaded. “It’s cool that the industry is changing,” she said of the YouTube exposure for emerging bands. “Whether that’s putting up different videos on YouTube or pulling songs in a different way or putting on the best live shows. I think people are noticing that – when people work hard for a career rather than just being handed it.” Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe has even given praise to the band on their cover. “Check out Walk off the Earth’s cover of Somebody That I Used To Know. Brilliant,” he told the world via Twitter. But the sudden fame isn’t going to their heads, Blackwood noted. Putting out an album and playing shows is next on their list and doing all that while calling Burlington home base. “We love Burlington so much,” she said. “We’re all mellow-headed – whether it’s touring in a van where you can’t shower for five days or flying out to L.A. – all these opportunities are more experience for us. We don’t take them for granted.”
