Awesome weather forecast ray_jay_63. Don't know if it will be conducive to a good game but should be even closer now that there's precipitation in the mix:

TICKET 1:
MANNING OV (Will, as per usual, look to pass more than throw considering his team has little to no run game *leaning towards NO RUN GAME considering 49ers the best at containing the run in the NFL* and he's built in the 'Manning mould'. Also, I see SF winning the game outright so, in my opinion, it's likely he'll have to play catchup in the latter half of the match *WARNING-rain often leads to A LOT of drops from receivers*)
SMITH OV (Likely to be caught, akin to last game vs Brees, in a late game shootout pushing his total OV for the day *WARNING-rain often leads to A LOT of drops from receivers*)
GORE OV (Should be able to find a big hole at some point in the game and NYG are far from a good bet at preventing premier backs from big breakout plays)
CRUZ UN (Nicks should feel a lot of pressure today from the mediocre SF pass def. However, Manning OBVIOUSLY feels more comfortable in his playoff form tossing to the postseason experienced Hakeem for his deep passes and WR Manningham for his short tosses. WR Cruz is the gamebreaker for the Giants...but, then again, that's all he's been to them of late. Lack of trust in the young wideout + probability of rain = UN)

TICKET 2:
SACKS OV (probability of rain + excellent sack records for both clubs + indecisiveness of QB Alex Smith in his passing game + likelihood of close score with late game heroics in play = OV)
PASS OV (NYG always good for a deep pass and SF one of the worst in the NFL at stopping the big throw. That, and WR Crabtree & TE Davis no slouches either when it comes to taking a play further than expected)
RUSH OV (Gotta figure Gore's gonna break one off at some point vs NYGs subpar run defence...if not, cross your fingers and hope one of those Giants 'secret' run plays breaks out cuz SF the best at stopping opposing RBs vs the rush/big rush)
FGM OV (likelihood of rain = likelihood of dropped passes = likelihood of need for long kick = likelihood of one of NFLs greatest all-time kickers, K David Akers of SF, to get a shot at big boot glory tonight)

GAME WRITEUP:
The New York Giants have been a powerful squad of late winning 4 straight do-or-die games (the most recent of which came on the storied Arctic tundra of Lambeau Field in Green Bay). These past four wins are more impressive when you figure in NY won the accumulative matchups by a total of 121-50. Nonetheless, all good things must come to an end and so too will the Giants 2011-12 season this weekend when they visit the 49ers in SF. Sure, SF completes only 29% of their third downs and sport a QB (Alex Smith) who has not thrown for over 300+ yards all season. Then again, that same QB threw an NFL-low 5 INT all year standing tall behind one of arguably the best offensive lines in the league (the same line that has opened up enough holes to rank the 49ers 8th in the NFL for 2011 in total rushing offense and helped to rack up an outstanding record of 13-0 when allowing less than 5 sacks). However, for all their strong play on offense, it is the defensive play of SF that truly makes them an elite squad. Allowing an astonishing 3 rushing TDs all season to opponent rushers (that's including the playoffs), the 49ers also managed to knock 7 opposition RBs out of the game throughout the year. It is also to note that vs NYG, a club the 49ers already defeated 27-20 when they visited SF back in November, the 49ers did not allow a single 40+ pass all game (a number more impressive when considering, save SF, NYG completed a pass to WR Nicks and/or WR Cruz for 50+ yards in 7 of their last 8 contests). NYG does have a lot going for them. Playing at a career peak, QB Eli Manning will put up a fight this coming Sunday night in SF. With a 100.1 QB rating in playoff road games, Manning will have a lot to work with seeing as his squad has covered 7 straight playoff road spreads and currently employ the postseason MVP, WR Nicks, in their passing game. A close end result should be a given come 10pm tonight. However, the winning end of the result will go to SF based solely on the strong blitz attack of the 49ers to push Eli into throwing just enough INTs and his Giants defense, who have placed their club at a great disadvantage having given up 13 turnovers in their past 6 playoff matches, into allowing the 49ers too much possession time on their own field. The 49ers beat a better offensive club on their home field last week vs NWO. 49ers win here - then lose the Superbowl to the best player in NFL history, QB Tom Brady, two weeks from now.

Good luck out there today. E.L.E.
