OLG will have online wagering by next superbowl

Just watched the local news tonight and the much talked about online wagering offered by the OLG is supposed to be in place by next Super Bowl. Will be interesting to see how this impacts the possibility for a greater array of wagering.

you can be sure they will screw it up one way or another, plus they will ensure their liability or risk is never compromised

Unfortunately gampa you're probably right...it would be nice to be able to play a single game as well, did it mention anything about that? as i recall there was something going on about potentially allowing single game wagers at casino/racetracks. Also to print your winning plays to cash instantly at the store would be convenient, unless they offer single game wagers i wont use their online system but as i have come to expect the least out of olg they will somehow find a way not to make it worth anyones while to gamble online.

They didn't say anything about single game wagering - just a short interview on screen by Paul Godfrey. Started with superbowl talk and then moved into online wagering to stop all the money going off shore etc.

Last week McCown on the Fan noted that they have hired the Full Tilt poker dudes as consultants. LOL! So be prepared for your online deposits to be stolen!

This article has some more info, I'll let you guys read at your own leisure. Here is a noteworthy point (may or may not be applicable for Proline)

Ontario-run online gaming may mean new safeguards and some jobs for Sault - The Sault Star - Ontario, CA

Several safety features have been suggested so far. Players may need to register to play, and they'll be asked to set maximum money and time-per-session limits at the start of a session. And as in OLG's real-world casinos, problem gamblers can self-exclude themselves from the virtual ones.

Hopefully they offer us a Quebec type of selection in terms of betting offers...

Will be very interesting to follow but I'm sure ultimately the OLG will not know their target market demographics and present us with a totally useless product.

Would have to agree with this 400% In BC we already have online proline as an option and its NOT all its cracked up to be!! The ONE plus in BC is we only require 2 games for a winning ticket rather then 3. The online registration process sucks bad. You have to FAX the lottery corps your ID, bank info and personal info etc..... Then someone calls you and you go from there.

If your just a very casual recreational player that likes to put a few bucks on your favorite team then proline is the ticket. If your at all serious about profiting on a "CONSISTENT" basis then an offshore book like 5 Dimes or Pinny is the way to go!!

3 way lines (Ties) and FORCED parlay bets will destroy even the most talented sports handicappers. Partially why any serious better will disregard proline. Over time, the house will ALWAYS win which is exactly what proline is designed to do. 3 out of 4 right on a ticket and you lose for the 100th time!! The good old days where the provincial lotteries gave out generous odds for underdogs (9.85 Ottawa Senators first year) are a distant memory. Expansion teams would pay 7.00, 8.00 and hit on a steady basis. This is when good players were exploiting good proline odds.

I can't imagine the OLG going to online wagering without some improvements in game options.
Also...OLG still offers things like parlaying props that online books dont.
