I'm not taking the boarder as some joke I've stated many times today i'm in favor of boarder security and reform.

Yes, but you've had border security and reform for years and years. Shit is just getting worse and worse as national security becomes more of a partisan issue, so laws don't get enacted or taken more seriously as they should. Talking head politicians and media-bought journalists take their sides an make you side with your aisle-politician on the now partisan issue. Not like the cartels are getting smaller...

So my question is, why not try what Trump wants? It's not about giving him a win. It's obviously not going to work 100%. Not even 90%. But if it can stop a good percentage of drugs from pouring in at 60-70%, that's a lot of lives that are potentially saved, which is more citizens paying taxes, which means more social programs and such. It also means less illegal immigrants, even if it's a lessened by 100,000 - 200,000, that's less tax-paying money being doled out to those that don't deserve it. The potential of less criminals or those forced to do crimes through their choice or not. And, slows down and lessens human/child trafficking. Let's be honest, $5.7 billion for the wall/fence as a preventative helpful measure, that will last centuries? Why not? Any of the issues I just mentioned will pay for it in the first 5 years.

Projections put the wall cost somewhere between 8 billion and 25 billion for a contiguous 2000 mile wall. I don't get how slated bars are going to keep drugs out, whats going to stop anyone from handing drugs between the slats? or digging under it as you mentioned.
60 percent of the wall should be high tech surveillance and monitoring.. military style.
The topography in Texas and Arizona make a wall close to useless, who's going to respond to a breach in the middle of nowhere the Texas badlands for sure seems like a waste of tax payer dollars.
These are the places tech should rule.

I'm pulling this out of my ass, but just a guess. If 60% of the wall were to be high tech surveillance and monitoring, the cost of that annually would be astronomical.

I don't believe I'm wrong on this, but the wall will have surveillance and monitoring in intervals. Again, the wall isn't a replacement for border patrol. They still have them. But the slated fence was what BP ideally chose. I guess it helps them see and good for the ecosystem/wildlife. Either way, your current fence needs a massive upgrade/reconstruction. Shit is getting more porous the more nothing gets done to it.

The only problem with tech is, you can't really apprehend people that do make it across in those "middle of nowhere" areas. And it's unconstitutional to shoot them. Tech would be the same as a wall, preventative and helpful, just a lot more expensive.

During the longest government shutdown in US history, President Donald Trump has been losing support among those who may be his strongest supporters -- white Americans who don't have college degrees.

Among this group, only 45% said they approved of the job Trump is doing as President, according to a recent poll conducted by SSRS. That is the lowest level of support among this subgroup by 1 percentage point in the surveys and a dip from a poll conducted in early December, before the partial shutdown, when 54% of whites without college degrees approved of his job as President and 39% disapproved.
The dip is notable since among whites who hold college degrees, Trump's ratings are largely unchanged in the last month and remain sharply negative -- 64% disapprove and 32% approve.

Dang - I'm busted!

The shut down is hurting the wrong people. What happens if the Border Patrol decides not to work for free? Approve a budget and make the wall, fence, tennis net or, what to f*ck ever you want to call it, a stand alone issue. Gov't is fucking up (as usual). Turn off the money spigot to Congress and see how long this shit last. I'm thinkin' DJT ripped his britches on this one too. If you're The Great Negotiator, fuckin' negotiate.
