Green Deal

per dtjr

Eliminating air travel for Americans would really suck, but note that it likely doesn’t effect the Dem’s favorite constituents... illegal immigrants

Line by line it is proven time and time again these things do not work.

No one wants to use high-speed rail.

Solar and wind fail in winter so you need at least a gas-fired generator as backup. Germany proved this years ago.

There is not enough copper and lumber in the world to rebuild the buildings.

Even if the Climate change model were true, what happens? People on Florida beaches have to move. Boo hoo.

The world would lose perhaps half its protein source. There are millions of square miles of grasslands that do not get enough rain to grow crops but the land can grow grass for any of the ruminants. Most of Texas to Montana, Argentina, and the Mongolians for starters.

From the Equator plus or minus 300 miles north and south there are a lot of rain forests. The fallen trees are eaten by termites which have poor digestions. They produce 60% of the world's methane.

Just did the math. There are 166,783 contracts of 40,000 pounds each of live cattle due April delivery. That is 6.67 billion pounds of cow and about 4 billion pounds of beef. At 303 million people, that is a lot of beef per person that will not exist.

A train is stuck in heavy snow. Is it proof of Climate Change? Were the hardships in "The Little House on the prairie" just 'Literary License?'

Historical Proof of Laura Ingalls Accuracy Interview

SEE HOW HIGH THE SNOW IS PACKED AROUND THIS TRAIN NEAR SLEEPY EYE, MINNESOTA, IN MARCH 1881.
Is bad weather like The 1935 Labor Day hurricane common?

Quote:
Hurricane Three was the most intense tropical cyclone to make landfall in the United States on record in terms of both pressure and wind speed.[1] It was also the most intense Atlantic hurricane on record until Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. The second tropical cyclone, second hurricane, and second major hurricane of the 1935 Atlantic hurricane season, the Labor Day Hurricane was the first of three Category 5 hurricanes to strike the United States at that intensity during the 20th century (the other two being 1969's Hurricane Camille and 1992's Hurricane Andrew). After forming as a weak tropical storm east of the Bahamas on August 29, it slowly proceeded westward and became a hurricane on September 1.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t mad at three of the world’s biggest tech companies, she’s just “deeply disappointed."

The Congresswoman from New York and Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) co-wrote an open letter Monday to the CEOs of Facebook, Google, and Microsoft that accuses them of giving their “implicit support” to climate change deniers.

“We were deeply disappointed to see that your companies were high-level sponsors of a conference this month in Washington D.C., known as LibertyCon, that included a session denying established science on climate change,” the congresswomen wrote.

The libertarian student-run conference hosted a variety of session and groups including one called the CO2 Coalition which, Mother Jones reports, handed out brochures to “explain how our lives and our planet Earth will be improved by additional atmospheric carbon dioxide. CO2 is "plant food."

It should be noted that, according to the LibertyCon schedule, there was also a session titled “Are Carbon Taxes a Viable Solution for Climate Change?” in which two groups debated whether it could “help us take better care of the environment” or was “another ineffective tax grab?”

In spite of being “encouraged” by the companies past initiatives to decrease their carbon footprint and find new energy sources, the Congresswomen warned, “The example you have set promoting sustainability and evidence-based science is compromised by your implicit support of the session.”

Particularly considering the dangers of misinformation campaigns, as Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

@AOC
We cannot allow the financing of misinformation campaigns to shape our democracy.

We can disagree on policy, but climate change is real. Period.

Proud to have joined @chelliepingree on this letter asking for greater responsibility to our democracy and planet.

Per @smencimer, @AOC is taking big tech -- FB, Google, MS, to task for role in climate-denial conference: Ocasio-Cortez Takes Facebook, Microsoft, and Google to Task for Conference Promoting Climate Denial – Mother Jones

“We cannot allow the financing of misinformation campaigns to shape our democracy,” Ocasio-Cortez said in a tweet. “We can disagree on policy, but climate change is real. Period.”

Chellie Pingree also noted in a tweet that even if companies “have made public commitments to reduce emissions,” she believed that “their sponsorship of a conference where climate change denial was promoted is dangerous and troubling.”
