FSN Pittsburgh, the exclusive rights-holder for Pittsburgh Penguins regional telecasts, recorded an 18.9 average rating for the six game 2010 Round One Playoff series against the Ottawa Senators. It marked the highest rated NHL Round One Playoff series on FSN Pittsburgh.

FSN Pittsburgh led all US-based regional sports networks in NHL game ratings for the last three regular seasons..

Penguins Fans Encouraged to 'Keep It Growing' Over $60,000 Donated to Date for the Team’s "Beard-A-Thon" CampaignThursday, 04.29.2010 / 10:59 AM / News Pittsburgh Penguins fans are proudly showing support for their team and the Mario Lemieux Foundation by donating over $60,000 to the organization’s second annual playoff “Beard-A-Thon” campaign. To date, over 1,200 Penguins fans worldwide have dropped their razors and picked up the cause.

Fans are encouraged to sign up to grow a playoff beard or pledge their favorite beard grower throughout the Stanley Cup Playoffs at www.beardathon.com/penguins. Those who prefer not to grow playoff beards (or are unable to do so!) are encouraged to participate by supporting friends, family members or celebrity beard growers including Mario Lemieux, Maxime Talbot and Pascal Dupuis.

“It’s not too late to join the cause. The participation - and the beards - continue to grow each day,” said the team’s vice president of marketing, James Santilli.

Prizes, featuring tours of Consol Energy Center and autographed items, will be awarded to this year’s top three fundraisers.

The Penguins continue to lead all participating NHL teams in the number of beard growers, the number of pledges and total money raised.

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for cancer and neonatal research as well as Austin’s Playroom Project, an initiative that creates sibling playrooms in medical facilities. Additional information about the Mario Lemieux Foundation is available at www.mariolemieux.org. All donations to the Mario Lemieux Foundation are tax deductible.

what does that mean? people don't have much of a life in pittsburgh i guess and have to watch the only shit that is going on in their market during that season...if pittsburgh provided more, then perhaps those ratings would suffer...keep jacking off to crosby and malkin dude...cream that terrible towel...oh wait..the season is over so they mean nothing once again...time to focus on the rapist, the mix breed that koreans hated til he won champioship, and the steel workers...then when they are done, time to do the cycle again...damn...no wonder ground hog day takes place near pittsburgh...seems like the same shit goes on everyday every year for eternity

Ok the dust has settled and hopefully emotions have too. My feeling was we had a sense of entitlement since we made it to the finals two straight years. Get cocky and well you usually end up getting bit in the ass. That said Montreal did everything they needed to give them a shot at winning the series, and well they won. Congrats Habs.
