Question Interesting scenario I just read...

saw it on the yahoo FF message board

guy posted a thread because he's the commissioner of his league and had this problem. a team who had already clinched a playoff spot decided to bench his entire team, assuring him a loss and what he thought would be a more favorable matchup. because of that, the team he played got a free win and therefore got into the playoffs by one game and obviously another guy got bounced.

would you guys consider that cheating? after reading through i can see arguments on both sides. if you pay to get in the league, you do whatever you see fit to win. on the other hand, it's ****ing fantasy football and benching your whole team for a "favorable matchup" is pretty stupid.

guy said he's been running his league 9 years and it's never happened so no set rule was ever made for this. interested to see what you guys think.

this is tough but i think you have the right to do whatever you thinks benefits YOU.......when you are playing for money I think you have the right to do something like this even though it possibly screws someone else....even if you make everyone submit a lineup it doesn't mean they can't plug in scrubs, etc.

on a sidenote, it is a total bitch move to simply drop all of your players once you are eliminated from playoff contention like this one bitch did in one of my leagues.......he was a new guy that one of the regular's picked up and obv won't be invited back......good thing this league has a bunch of standup guys and no one picked up any of douchebags guys.....

you don't need to try and win. but I think u should at least have a full lineup. benching whole team is lame

It wasn't that extreme but we had some lineup issues before in my league and got tired of some guys picking up easy wins because of it so i started fining guys $10/empty roster spot and splitting that money between top 3.

Ditto, only a flat $100 for anyone leaving a spot empty..On CBS I don't think they will even show a lineup if one leaves even one spot vacant.

We also run a Toilet Bowl, loser pays $100, to be sure eveyone participates all season

should have it set where the highest ranked player plays automatically if a spot is benched.

with this being said...

The guy should have just started all his bench/worst players... kinda like when teams have playoffs locked up at the end of the year. They can't just not play the game... but they can play it without their starters.

I can agree with this.......just plug in the scrubs and move on

Don't agree with H2H for $ being stupid though........as long as the people in your league have integrity there is no problems whatsoever......

yeah h2h is no problem especially when you're in leagues with guys you've known for years

if i was commish i would exclude myself, guy who benched whole team, team that guy played, and team who lost playoff spot because of it and take vote (hopefully it's a 12 man league)

if that didn't work out, then most likely i'd have to let it stand because there wasn't a rule made prior to season. at least that's what the thread said. and he said he was running his league for 9 or 10 years

I am not the commish in any of my leagues but I talk about rules changes, etc. at the draft of all my leagues.......you have to get things established BEFORE the season starts as midseason rule changes will cause all hell to break loose........example was in CM2 this year with the waiver thing.......we couldn't pickup guys on Sunday because of the stupid format and some wanted to change the rule midseason which would not have been fair to those that had been screwed over by the previous waiver rule.......just can't do stuff midseason........that's just as shaddy IMO.........work out the rules at the draft before the season starts.......majority rules and move on
