My Team

finally had my draft Labor Day night. 12 teams--6 points for all TDs. Modified PPR (1 point for every 3 receptions). Start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs (TE counts as WR), 1 flex, kicker and team defense.

I picked out of the 12 hole. I traded down in the 2nd (from 13 to 20) and moved up in the 3rd (from 36 to 29) and up in the 7th (from 84 to 77). Round by round:

1- Tom Brady
2- Hakeem Nicks
3- Felix Jones
4- Mark Ingram
5- Brandon Lloyd
6- Marshawn Lynch
7- Austin Collie
8- Pierre Thomas
9- AJ Green
10- Lance Moore
11- Saints D
12- Montario Hardesty
13- Jerome Harrison
14- Andre Roberts
15- Denarius Moore
16- Billy Cundiff
17- Justin Forsett
18- Rex Grossman

I got skunked on a few guys I wanted (Aaron Hernandez, DeMarco Murray, Nate Burleson), but all in all I am pretty happy with my team.

Thoughts ?

would also like to see who the guy that you traded with picked in his spots that were involved in that deal, but RB looks shaky to me, especially in a league with a flex.

well, admittedly my strategy turns on Felix and Ingram having the years I do think they will have.

The guy I swapped with took Mendenhall at pick # 13 (I took Nicks at 20); then I took Felix at 29, he took Austin at 36; and I took Collie at 77 and he took McGahee at 84.

Brady, nicks, and Lloyd are the highlights of the team. There really are a lot of risky players there. Felix And collie are injury risks, especially collie. Ingram is a rookie with a huge upside, but still a rookie and you never know how they will respond. They rarely live up to the hype. Same goes for green, plus he even has a rookie throwing to him. I'm not bashing at all Keith, but overall I would rate it a C at best. Bit good luck, I've seen worse looking teams win it all.

appreciate the critique. Picking from the 12 hole was definitely not a plus for me. Really think Felix puts it all together this year. I was wary of Collie, but in the middle of the 7th round, I just could not pass him up (took him over S. Moss and Mike Thomas).

I'm on board with everyone else. You need Jones and Ingram to have productive years or you could be in trouble. Your backup RB are handcuffed backs which usually aren't that productive.

What were your thoughts on trading out of your spots? You could of gotten a much better RB and might of grabbed an WR equal as Nicks.

Why go Brady that early? He's top 3 QB with production, but you could of waited until another round or get a second tier QB while you got a better WR or RB.

Here was my thinking. I traded down in the 2nd and moved up in the 3rd because I knew I wanted Brady at 12. I believe he will be the # 2 QB this year. I had every intention of coupling him with a top 5 WR. Had I missed out on Brady at 12 (Rivers went at 9), I would have taken Calvin at 12 and then grabbed Romo at 20. At least that was the plan. Romo did make it all the way to pick # 30, but I could not have known that before-hand. By that time, all the top level QBs were gone. I knew I wanted Felix this year. He will be the RB1 that will carry the Cowboys (and hopefully my team too) this year. By picking at 29 (moved up in the 3rd) I was able to get him. He would have been gone at pick # 36 (at that point I was looking at Moreno, FJax, DWill and Mathews), and I valued Felix more than any of them. Ingram at # 37 was my home run shot. I do believe he will get double digit TDs, even if he doesn't get 1000 yards rushing. Fact is though, Pierre is more than just a handcuff. Lloyd fell to me in the 5th (took him over Harvin and Britt), and just felt that Collie was too good of a value to pass up in the 7th (took him over S. Moss).

Appreciate everyone's input (even though most don't seem to like my team all that much )

See I disagree with the Pierre being more than just a handcuff this year, especially with 4 capable backs there. I think the situation will turn into what their WR situation is with any one able to go off on a certain week, and not more than one going off in that particular week. They will have a high powered offense but only so much to go around

The only thing I know is I would much rather have 2 picks in the top 13, instead of 3 in the top 29. Fantasy baseball is about depth - Fantasy football is about having stud superstars.

I take the best players I can in the first 2 rounds of the draft instead of worrying if i should move up to get a guy in the 3rd or 7th round

I like some of your players, but your only home run is Brady. you could have had 2 home runs with picks 12 & 13

not that I am wishing for it, but of course an injury to one or the other would resolve the situation. But if Pierre is getting the carries from the 20 to the 20, while Ingram gets the goal-line carries, I could start them both. I did that last year early in the year with Charles and T Jones on KC, and a couple of years ago with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams on the Dolphins. Ivory is on the PUP and Sproles is only a 3rd down guy.

Here's the thing though--do guys like FJax, Moreno and DWill have that much more upside than Ingram does ? And if Pierre plays as much as they say he might, then doesn't he become a steal in the 8th round ? When all is said and done, my team swings or falls on Felix Jones. I believe he puts up RB1 numbers this year.

here's why I respectfully disagree. Say I took Brady at 12. At 13 I was going WR. I could have taken Calvin or Roddy. But then my next pick is not until 36. At that point I am really screwed on RBs. Here I got Nicks at 20--admittedly below Calvin and Roddy, but only by a small margin, and still got my RB that I would not have gotten at 36. That was the plan. Of course hindsight is 20/20.

Appreciate everyone's opinions.

Could work out for you - however I think there is a wide margin between calvin or roddy vs nicks, especially considering the 2 playoff weeks - nicks plays both weeks in NYC in december, and roddy has 2 dome games, and calvin has 1 dome and one in california

we'll see - i also have felix, im hoping for a big year for him too.
