Week 12 Fantasy Sleepers Week 12
Quarterback Alex Smith, San Francisco 49ers Despite Alex Smith’s problems with interceptions since he took over for Shaun Hill, he is still a huge fantasy threat at times. This week look for Smith to have arguably his best game of the season as the San Francisco 49ers go up against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Running Back Rock Cartwright, Washington Redskins The Washington Redskins have been ravaged with injuries over the last few weeks of the season and have continued to struggle. Not only has the Redskins defense taken some huge blows with DeAngelo Hall (knee) and Albert Haynesworth (ankle) nursing injuries, but both of Washington star running backs in Clinton Portis (concussion) and Ladell Betts (IR) will be sitting out against the Philadelphia Eagles this week. With that being said third string running back Rock Cartwright will be the number one guy for the Redskins coming out of the backfield against Philly this week. Wide Receiver Donnie Avery, St. Louis Rams It has been another rough season for the St. Louis Rams as they have only won one games so far this season. This week things will get even tougher for the Rams as they will be without quarterback Marc Bulger and possibly running Stephen Jackson. Despite not having Bulger, the Rams will have backup quarterback Kyle Boller behind center. Even though Boller is by no means a Marc Bulger, he can still get the job done at times with the air attack. Expect Avery to reap the benefits this week against the Seattle Seahawks. Tight End Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles The Eagles are in a dog fight in the NFC East division once again with the 1st place Dallas Cowboys and with that being said Donovan McNabb and company will need to win every game from here on out. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin have become McNabb’s favorite targets in the Philly offense, but tight end Brent Celek has quitely had somewhat of a breakout year this season with 568 yards and five touchdowns. Three of those touchdowns have come in the last four weeks and I would expect that kind of production to continue this week against the Redskins. Defense Tennessee Titans There has been no team hotter over the last four weeks then the Tennessee Titans. After benching quarterback Kerry Collins in favor of Vince Young, the Titans have done nothing, but win four straight coming into week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals. Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner is banged up right now with a concussion, he will play against Tennessee, but this is a perfect opportunity for the Titans defense to take advantage of Arizona’s offense not being 100%.
