Waiver Wire Week #2...A bunch of reading that might help our teams !

Copied and pasted as I read through various articles. Some of them sound okay and others the same that failed last season. If some of these guyz are still left in your league, you most likely will win ! lol...Some of the players are mentioned more than once but hey?

CARSON PALMER – CIN
Palmer is out of the top twelve in most rankings week to week but if week one is any indication then Palmer will be passing the ball like crazy all season. And why not? With Ochocinco, Owens, Shipley and a shiny new tight end in Jermaine Gresham, he could produce several 300 plus yard 2 touchdown games for the Bengals this season.

DAVID GARRARD – JAC
Though we are not ready to jump on the Garrard bandwagon yet, an extremely efficient game against a tough Denver defense deserves a mention. Garrard went for 173 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions leading the Jaguars to win number one. Garrard is likely a backup quarterback in most formats but it is still one fantasy position that requires your attention, even if he never enters your starting lineup, sometimes picking players up so other cannot is a good strategy.

MICHAEL VICK – PHI
Vick had a stellar performance against a very good Packers defense after replacing injured Kevin Kolb. It’s unlikely that Kolb will return for week two against Detroit who lost a stunner on a ridiculous officiating call. Be that as it may, Vick should find plenty of holes to scramble through after avoiding the Lions much improved front four. Another thing he can enjoy for once in his career is a solid wide receiving core worth getting the ball to.

CADILLAC WILLIAMS – TAM
Williams is clearly stamped as the Buccaneers number one running back after 24 touches and 98 total yards in week one. We don’t want to get too excited considering the opponent was the hapless Cleveland Browns. Williams will be a focal point all season and could be valuable during the bye weeks or flex-position starts in good matchups.

RICKY WILLIAMS – MIA
Ricky Williams was largely forgotten this fantasy draft season with the healthy return of Ronnie Brown. The Dolphins struggled to move the ball against a stout Buffalo run defense but Williams received the majority of carries. Brown did get the lone rush touchdown but Williams should have plenty of chances moving forward.

DARREN MCFADDEN – OAK
The Raiders got squashed by the Tennessee Titans week one but one thing is clear, Jason Campbell is a world better than JaMarcus Russell and will give this offense a chance. McFadden had the type of game we expect every week from a player of his talent. McFadden had 24 touches for 150 total yards and a score. There were no 70+ yard plays to pad the numbers and knowing he is capable of breaking the big play at anytime is nice to have in your fantasy back pocket.

JORDAN SHIPLEY – CIN
Shipley moved into the number three spot with Andre Caldwell out week one and is making a case to keep the job. Shipley had 5 catches for 82 yards in week one in what was largely a play from behind effort. If the Cincinnati defense gives up the points it did in week one then this will be a common second half theme for Carson Palmer.

AUSTIN COLLIE / PIERRE GARCON – IND
Fifty-seven pass attempts? You’ve got to be kidding right? Well week one against the Houston Texans pretty much set the tempo for the rest of the Colts season. This offense throws the ball enough to support four major pass receivers in Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Collie and Garcon. Anthony Gonzalez will be the odd man out this year even if Peyton Manning averages 40+ attempts a game.

EDDIE ROYAL – DEN
Royal will regain his rookie year magic this season and lead the Broncos in receptions. The health of Thomas will have little effect on Royal as a possession receiver and Orton will continue to find him in the gaps. When Thomas takes over the other starting position, Jabar Gaffney and Brandon Lloyd will suffer the production hit. Royal is safe to pick up and begin starting as a number three fantasy receiver.

MARK CLAYTON – STL
Clayton went from the odd man out to number one target for rookie Sam Bradford. He caught ten balls for 119 yards with very little practice time in the new offense. Bradford will rely on the veteran week to week with plenty of games where second half pass-a-thons pad Clayton’s numbers. He could be a nice number three receiver.

DEVIN AROMASHODU – CHI
The Chicago Bears were handed a gift in the most ridiculous non-touchdown call I’ve ever seen but one thing that was apparent that the Bears offense needs work. Aromashodu was the number two option in the passing game after Matt Forte with Greg Olsen coming in a close third. One game alone doesn’t sort out the Bears target situation but Aromashodu is in the early lead and worth a roster spot.

ROB GRONKOWSKI – NWE
Gronkowski picked up in his first NFL game right where he left off in the pre-season catching his first career touchdown pass. Granted the pass play was for one yard but the point is redzone focus. If Gronkowski continues to be a favorite in the redzone and can grab another 40-50 yards throughout the game, you’ve got a bargain tight end at no cost.

OWEN DANIELS – HOU
Daniels and the rest of the Houston passing game had a quiet day while enjoying the rushing exhibition displayed by Arian Foster. Be not afraid however as this passing crew will get in a groove as the season rolls on. Daniels knee appeared to fine as he played most of the game and could be a nice addition for at minimum bye weeks and tough matchups for your current starter.

.................................................. .................................................. ........
NATE WASHINGTON - TENN He tied for the team lead in targets and made the most of them, reeling in three catches for 88 yards and a score. Kenny Britt did not appear in the box score and seems to be in the doghouse, leaving Washington as by far Tennessee's best deep threat. Pittsburgh and the New York Giants are up next, two defenses that had strong opening weeks.

BRANDON LLOYD - DEN On eight targets he caught five for 117 yards, a far more productive game than starter Jabar Gaffney had. With Eddie Royal catching shorter passes Lloyd was hit for 41, 27, and 25 yards. The Denver defense could not contain Jacksonville and David Garrard; similar efforts will result in many shootouts.

Arian Foster, RB, HOU - Foster showed why it is always a good idea to keep a close eye on the Houston RB situation. He dropped a mega fantasy nuke, nailing 231 rushing yards, 7 receiving yards, and 3 TDs. If you started Foster this week, overwhelming odds say you probably won.

Matt Forte, RB, CHI - Similar to Foster, Forte is gone is almost all the leagues out there, but if you can believe it, there are some where he went undrafted. After his week one performance of 201 total yards of offense and 2 TDs, you can bet that will no longer be the case. Forte has always had good hands, and Cutler is not shy about feeding him the ball anywhere on the field.

Darren McFadden, RB, OAK - McFadden is finally healthy, and he showed what he can do when healthy with a little bit of QB help to keep defenses honest. McFadden ended the day with 140 yards of total offense and a TD. With Michael Bush out, McFadden is capitalizing and it is no secret Al Davis wants to see the speedster on the field as much as possible. It remains to be seen if McFadden can actually play a full 16 game season without getting hurt. Regardless, enjoy the ride while you can and hope it doesn't stop until after week 17.

Peyton Hillis, RB, CLE - The Browns wasted no time cashing in on their off-season acquisition of Hillis. Hillis started the game and finished with a respectable 65 yards of total offense and a TD. He will continue to battle with Jerome Harrison for touches, but Hillis' production on Sunday is hard to ignore. He is a great dual-threat weapon out of the backfield as both a rusher and pass catcher.

Brandon Jackson, RB, GB - Grant left the game with a severe ankle sprain, and Jackson proceeded to get the bulk of the carries to the tune of 18 attempts for 63 yards. He also tacked on 2 receptions for 12 yards. While these stats won't knock your socks off, the fact that Grant is injured does warrant pause for some concern. The Packers showed they will feature Jackson if Grant is unable to go.

Davone Bess, WR, MIA - While the numbers for Bess don't look all that impressive (6 receptions for 51 yards), he was very active in the passing game and could emerge as a possible starter for those in deeper fantasy leagues. There is little doubt Brandon Marshall will have the full attention of the defense, which leaves Bess room to operate.

Austin Collie, WR, IND - It's tough to say how excited to get about Collie. On the one hand he was in rhythm with Manning and led all Colts receivers in receptions (10) and yards (131). On the other hand, there is a load of talent at receiver in Indianapolis, and this was probably just Collie's week. Regardless, the production is hard to ignore, and if available, you should grab him.

Brandon Lloyd, WR, DEN - There is opportunity in Denver, and Lloyd is the first to strike. Lloyd lead all Broncos' receivers with 117 yards. He is a talented receiver that just has never really blossomed to his full potential in the NFL, so perhaps this is the magical season he has been looking for.

Mark Clayton, WR, STL - Here is another WR making the most out of the opportunity presented to him. Clayton was added to the Rams late, and he has wasted no time getting in good favor with his rookie QB. Clayton led all Rams receivers with 10 receptions for 119 yards. He was very active in the game, and it was clear he was on the same page with his QB.

Michael Vick, QB, PHI - Kevin Kolb suffered a concussion and now we have a QB controversy on our hands in Philly. Why? Because one of the most exciting players in football reintroduced himself to the league on Sunday. Vick made the most of his playing time, racking in 175 passing yards, 1 passing TD, and rushing for 103 yards. Vick rushed for nearly three times as much rushing yardage as all of the other Eagles' RB combined. Despite his great game, he did show just a little rust, which is why a controversy is on our hands: his ceiling is even higher than what he showed, which was already pretty impressive. As for Kolb, this is not good news. Concussions are very strange animals, and once you get one, you are much more likely to receive another on a lesser blow to the head. Not trying to sound doomsday here, but there is reason for some concern as concussions are just not well understood. If you own Kolb, you had better get Vick. It remains to be seen if Kolb will play in week 2.

Vince Young, QB, TEN - While Young's stat line looks pretty good (154 passing yards, 2 TDs, and 30 rushing yards), if you watched the game, you realize it could have been even better. The one-two punch of Young and Johnson is proving to be a defensive coordinator's nightmare, and Young could put together a nice fantasy season using his legs.

Kyle Orton, QB, DEN - Orton had a good game on Sunday going 21 / 33 for 295 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT. There is much talk about Tebow, but Orton isn't ready to just hand over the job just yet. Orton is very comfortable in the Denver system, and this won't be the last time we have a Kyle Orton sighting this year.

Visanthe Shiancoe, TE, MIN - While not available in most leagues, there are some leagues out there were Shiancoe is sitting on the waiver wire just waiting to be picked up. If you are in one of those leagues, run, don't walk to the wire and get him. It was clear watching the game on Thursday that Favre is locked onto Shiancoe as one of his favorite, if not his number one favorite receiver while Sidney Rice is out. Shiancoe finished the game with 4 receptions for 76 yards and a TD.

Marcedes Lewis, TE, JAX - Anytime you pull in 2 TDs in one game, it is clear you have the attention of your QB. Lewis has always been considered a great pass catcher, and this could be the sign of more good things to come for him.

.................................................. .................................................. ........

Mike Thomas, WR, Jacksonville

Though Mike Sims-Walker is Jacksonville's top wideout, look for his teammate Thomas to produce some solid games like the opener. After going undrafted in many leagues, he caught six catches for 89 yards and had three 100-yard receiving games last season.

Fred Taylor, RB, New England

He received the majority of carries (14), while three other Patriots runners shared nine handoffs. If Laurence Maroney continues to miss more games, his counterpart Taylor is more likely to be featured. He also averaged an impressive 5.1 yards per carry.

Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jacksonville

He caught only two passes, but both accounted for touchdowns. With defenses focused on Maurice Jones-Drew, Lewis could be the recipient of more touchdown catches. He's already matched last year's touchdown total as well.

Brandon Lloyd, WR, Denver

He emerged as one of Kyle Orton's top receivers during the opener, catching five passes for 117 yards. Aiming to be featured more, Lloyd has caught just 36 passes during the last three seasons

Legedu Naanee, WR, San Diego

He outperformed Malcom Floyd to be San Diego's No. 1 wideout to start the season. He finished with five receptions for 110 yards and one score, while Floyd had just three receptions for 48 yards.

Forget Jackson and try to hit gold with Dimitri Nance

I know virtually nothing about rookie running back Dimitri Nance except that the Packers signed him to help replace Ryan Grant. That said, I'd rather have Nance on my team than new starter Brandon Jackson.Dimitri Nance could wind up getting a chance at playing time on a thin Packers depth chart.
CAPTIONBy Fernando Medina-US PRESSWIRE, US PRESSWIRE

Jackson is fine and all; he will start this week against Buffalo and is worth a spot as a No. 2 back. But we've seen Jackson and we know that he is not the next great running back. Heading into his fourth season, Jackson has been very mediocre thus far; he has been hampered by minor injuries and shows little big-play ability or a knack for the end zone.

If you have to start him, fine. But I don't think you will build a consistently victorious team if you're starting Jackson every week.

Nance is the unknown. In general, I trust the Packers' assessment of young, unknown players based on their track record under GM Ted Thompson. The Falcons also tried to keep Nance on their practice squad so there's at least a little something there.

Why not take a chance on Nance's potential instead of putting yourself to sleep by watching Jackson run for 61 yards every week? Maybe Nance turns into the next Arian Foster. I have no idea whether that will happen, nor do I have any idea when it would happen if it did. I'd just much rather gamble on that potential rather than going through the same ol', same ol' with Jackson one more time.
