Waiver wire work for week#6...best wishes!
Here are some Week #6 Waiver Wire articles that i have looked at.
No particular order here just a fast copy and paste to help us think. Best wishes everyone! ![]() Here are the week 6 picks. Quarterbacks 1. Tim Tebow – DEN – 11% owned 2. Curtis Painter – IND – 8% owned 3. Jason Campbell – OAK – 29% owned Tim Tebow took over for Kyle Orton in the second half of week 5 and threw for 79 yards ana TD while adding another TD on the ground. Tebow clearly gives the Broncos the best chance to win and has potential to be a fantasy monster since he doubles as the Broncos’ goal line back. Curtis Painter has proven everyone (myself included) wrong. Through his first 2 starts, Painter has 4 TDs and 0 interceptions. Painter has the ability to be a viable bye-week fill-in. Jason Campbell wasn’t pretty in week 5 but still threw for two TDs and is a low end QB2. If you are desperate on the bye-weeks he can fill in. Running Backs 1. Bernard Scott – CIN – 15% owned 2. Jackie Battle – KC – 11% owned 3. Delone Carter- IND – 12% owned 4. Earnest Graham – WAS – 14% owned Bernard Scott will carry the load in Cincinnati while Cedric Benson serves his 3 games suspension (if Benson ever serves his suspension). It looks like Benson’s suspension may get put off another week. Eventually he will be suspended and when he is, Scott will be the feature back. If you own Benson, you have to keep holding on to Scott. If you don’t own Benson but need depth at RB try to make room for Scott on your bench. Eventually you will get 3 good weeks out of him. Jackie Battle is trying to make a name for himself in the mess that is the KC backfield. In week 5, Battle made the most of the spotlight rushing 19 times for 119 yards. Thomas Jones only got 10 touches, while Dexter McCluster rushed 4 times. Battle is emerging as the hot hand. Delone Carter isn’t good at jumping over the pile, but he is going to be the feature back in Indianapolis for the next 3 weeks while Joseph Addai nurses a hamstring injury. Earnest Graham going to see the most snaps in the backfield while LaGarrette Blount is sidelined with injury. The Bucs backfield may be a situation to avoid if you can. However if you are desperate, Graham is a better choice than Lumpkin. Wide Receivers 1. Jacoby Jones – HOU- 42% owned 2. Jabar Gaffney – WAS- 19% owned 3. Doug Baldwin – SEA- 6% owned 4. Steve Breaston – KC – 16% owned Jacoby Jones only had 1 catch in week 5 but he was targeted 11 times, more than any other player on the team with the exception of Owen Daniels (11). Jones is going to continue to see more targets while Andre Johnson heals from his hamstring injury. Jabar Gaffney is coming off a bye week so he should still be available in your league. The Redskins play the Eagles in week 6. The Eagles defense has been horrible so far this year and Gaffney has earned the trust of Rex Grossman. Doug Baldwin (WR-SEA) has made me look like a genius two weeks in a row. In week 4 Baldwin lead the Seahawks in targets and yards (6-84). In week 5 Baldwin had 9 targets (1 fewer than Ben Obomanu) and led the team in yards with 136. Baldwin added a TD in week 5 for a stellar fantasy performance. Baldwin has shown chemistry with both Tavarus Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst so it doesn’t matter who starts under center. Steve Breaston showed a great ability to get open. Breaston is a talented compliment to Dwayne Bowe. The only problem is that he plays for the Chiefs. Temper you expectations but Breaston has the ability to make plays even on a dreadful team. Tight Ends 1. Ed Dickson – BAL – 15% owned 2. Jared Cook – TEN – 39% owned 3. Jake Ballard – NYG – 3% owned Ed Dickson is still on my list. This guy has the size and ability to play as a WR. Big TEs are tearing it up this year. Dickson is a great option for a bye-week option. Jared Cook followed up his huge week 4 performance with 4 catches for 59 yards. He was targeted by Matt Hasselbeck 9 times. Clearly Hasselbeck is keeping Cook involved in the offense. Jake Ballard showed consistency with 2 strong weeks in a row. In week 4, Ballard caught 3 of 3 targets for 33 yards and a TD. In week 5, Ballard caught 3 of 4 targets for 72 yards and a TD. Eli Manning appears to trust Ballard in the red zone. ------------------------------------------------------------------- This Week 6 edition of Player Upgrades takes a look at seven players whose fantasy stock is on the rise and should be targeted by fantasy owners either off the wavier wire or via trade. QB Tim Tebow, DEN The Denver Broncos faithful will finally get their wish when Tim Tebow gets his first start of the season in Week 7 on the road against the Miami Dolphins. Tebow isn't a very intriguing fantasy prospect when it comes to his ability as a passer, but his athleticism and ability to pull the ball down and run gives him an added dimension that fantasy owners can use. After taking over as the Broncos' starting quarterback late last season, Tebow rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns in the final three games of the season. Tebow will run the ball and score plenty of touchdowns -- any passing yardage that Tebow tacks on for fantasy owners will be gravy. There are some concerns, most notably turnovers (interceptions and fumbles) and injuries. Any quarterback with a propensity to pull it down and run is susceptible to both. The bottom line is that fantasy owners have nothing to lose by picking up Tebow. There is tremendous potential here from a fantasy standpoint. Tebow could turn out to be a pretty decent fantasy quarterback thanks to the rushing yards and touchdowns this season. RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, NE A week after rookie Stevan Ridley stole the show with a breakout performance in Oakland, BenJarvus Green-Ellis re-established himself as the dominant running back in New England with a career-high 136 yards and two touchdowns on a season-high 27 carries against the New York Jets last weekend. Green-Ellis appeared to be in danger of losing carries to the talented rookie Ridley before his monster performance in a commanding victory over the Jets. With Ridley receiving just seven carries for 13 yards, it appears that Green-Ellis still has plenty of job security at this point. There is still a chance Green-Ellis (who will be a free agent at the end of the year) could lose carries to Ridley down the road, but for the time being "The Law Firm" will shoulder a majority of the workload. Green-Ellis has a tough match-up and could potentially struggle this weekend against the best run defense in the NFL so far this season -- the Dallas Cowboys, who are allowing just under 62 yards per game. Should Green-Ellis struggle, he would represent a major buy-low opportunity. As long as Green-Ellis is the Patriots' number one running back, then his fantasy value should continue to rise as the match-ups get easier later in the season. WR Jason Avant, PHI While DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin found the end zone, it was actually Jason Avant who led the team in both receptions and yards this past weekend against the Buffalo Bills. Avant hauled in nine passes for 139 yards on a team-leading 10 targets. Avant is quietly developing into a solid number three wide receiver for the Eagles and has relegated Steve Smith (who was not even targeted once this past weekend) to the bench. Avant is owned in less than 10% of leagues according to MyFantasyLeague.com. That number should be much higher. Avant's fantasy stock is clearly on the rise and he deserves to be owned, especially in point-per-reception formats going forward. Fantasy owners looking to add bench depth or a bye-week fill-in at wide receiver should look no further than Avant off the wavier wire. WR Doug Baldwin, SEA Who is Doug Baldwin? Seattle's rookie wide receiver has caught a pass in every game this season and led the Seahawks with eight catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. With Mike Williams still sidelined with a concussion, Baldwin just continues to produce and appears to be a solid complement to Sidney Rice in Seattle. Even when Tarvaris Jackson left the game this past weekend, Baldwin appeared to have a solid connection with Charlie Whitehurst. Baldwin is owned in less than 20% of fantasy leagues according to MyFantasyLeague.com. While he won't be the sexiest name to pick up or trade for, he could help your team to a title this season. Lets face it, Seattle is going to have to thrown the ball, a lot. Baldwin continues to pile up the targets and yards, which has his fantasy stock on the rise. Fantasy owners looking for an upgrade at wide receiver should target Baldwin off the waiver wire. WR Deion Branch, NE Deion Branch has scored touchdowns in back-to-back games and continues to be a key part of the Patriots' offense this season. Branch is the definition of a match-up player; his fantasy value is directly tied to how opposing defenses choose to cover the other weapons in the Patriots passing game (Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski). When opposing defenses look to take away Welker or the tight ends, Branch factors greatly into the Patriots' game plan. With the Jets looking to shut down Welker, Brady turned to Branch early and often this past weekend. Branch reeled in seven passes for 74 yards and a touchdown on a team-leading eight targets. Through five weeks, the Patriots boast the number one passing game in the league. Despite being the fourth option on most passing plays, Branch's stock continues to rise and is at the point now that he deserves to be owned in all leagues. Depending upon the match-up, Branch has the potential to be a solid flex option play each and every week for fantasy owners. WR Steve Breaston, KC With the shortened offseason, it has been very difficult for players who were signed as free agents to come in, learn the system, and have an immediate impact this season. A prime example of that is Steve Breaston. Breaston has seen his role in the Chiefs' offense expand over the past three weeks and his fantasy stock has quietly been on the rise as a result. This past weekend against the Indianapolis Colts, Breaston caught four passes for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including the go-ahead score late in the fourth quarter. Breaston has been a productive fantasy wide receiver before in his career and with little competition for playing time, his fantasy stock should continue to rise in the coming weeks as he continues to expand his role in the Chiefs offense. Fantasy owners looking for an upgrade at wide receiver should look to acquire Breaston either off the wavier wire or via trade. WR Victor Cruz, NYG Is Victor Cruz a fluke? Anybody who has watched the highlights over the past couple of weeks would say yes. The fact that his big plays always seem to be fluky in nature reminds me of Hakeem Nicks during his rookie campaign; they are starting to become a weekly phenomenon. This past weekend, Cruz led the Giants with eight receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown. Cruz' 68-yard touchdown came after the ball was tipped up in the air by a Seahawks defender and Cruz was able to make a one-handed catch and race down the sideline for the score. Unfortunately, Cruz also slipped on a route and caused an interception late in the fourth quarter that sealed the Giants' fate. Cruz is no longer a fluke when the big plays become a weekly occurrence and happen at the rate they have been; it is time for fantasy owners to take notice. I haven't completely bought into Cruz as a reliable weekly starter in fantasy just yet, so I'm not saying do whatever it takes to acquire him, but it is worth noting that his fantasy stock is on the rise and that fantasy owners in desperate need of a playmaker at the wide receiver position should look to make a deal for Cruz. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Advice NFL Week 6 Monday, October 10, 2011 Welcome to the Team (a.k.a. Pick-Up) Note: This advice is intended for redraft leagues only. Jackie Battle, RB, KC - The Chiefs have been desperately looking for RB production since the season ending knee injury to Jamaal Charles. They may have found just exactly that in week 5 with Battle, who ripped the Colts' for 119 rushing yards on 19 carries, as well as pulled in 2 receptions for 21 yards. The Chiefs do have a week 6 BYE coming up, but Battle probably won't last the next few days as he will be gobbled up by fantasy owners hungry for any signs of production from the RB slot. Jonathan Dwyer, RB, PIT - Dwyer popped a big game on Sunday posting 107 rushing yards on 11 attempts. He stole the show from Isaac Redman, who left early in the 4th quarter with a bad hammy. Dwyer was a stud at Georgia Tech, and at 5'11" / 230 lbs is a load to bring down that fits well in the Pittsburgh mentality of their run scheme. We were not big on Rashard Mendenhall entering the season and had him ranked lower than any fantasy site in our preseason RB rankings, largely driven by the circumstances of his workload last year (be sure to check out our article: Effect of RB Carries on Future Production). Mendenhall is not disappointing, as he has crushed his fantasy owners in the first five weeks of the season with a host of bumps of bruises very early. As such, it's worth taking a flyer on Dwyer and seeing what develops. Pierre Garcon, WR, IND - Painter is not being shy about Garcon being is #1 and #2 favorite target in Indy. Garcon exploded yet again pulling down 5 receptions for 125 yards and 2 TDs against the Chiefs. This followed his monster week 4 performance where he nailed 146 yards and 2 TDs against the Bucs. If you are so lucky to get Garcon off waivers, enjoy! Doug Baldwin, WR, SEA - The rookie from Stanford is starting to pull some nice games together, highlighted by his first NFL TD and first 100+ receiving yard performance (136) on Sunday. He is becoming a favorite target of Tarvaris Jackson and has seen his targets, receptions, and receiving yards go up in three consecutive weeks. Victor Cruz, WR, NYG - Wow, Cruz is just unconscious. He is still available for pick-up in many leagues, but that won't be the case after this week. He popped another big game, roasting the Hawks to the tune of 8 receptions for 161 yards and a TD. Like it or not, Cruz is here to stay. Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, OAK - Don't look now, but Heyward-Bey is actually starting to flash a fantasy pulse. He was just one yard short of eclipsing the 100 yard receiving mark for the second week in a row, and he is becoming a favorite target for QB Jason Campbell (20 targets over the last two weeks). Tim Tebow, QB, DEN - Despite what the media has been circulating, we knew it was only a matter of time before Tebow would find himself square in the middle of a QB controversy. Like it or not, Tebow took the reigns late in the game and almost led the Broncos to victory from an otherwise seemingly insurmountable deficit. He orchestrated two TD drives late, one of which he rushed in for a TD and the other he tossed the rock for a TD. Kyle Orton owners should be nervous, and for those that have room on the roster to grab a seed and see how it grows, now is the time to get Tebow. If it makes you feel better, take a look at what Tebow did fantasywise to finish the year last season. Pretty impressive. Curtis Painter, QB, IND - Painter is starting to settle into the starting QB slot and is riding the chemistry he has with WR Pierre Garcon. For the second week in a row, he has posted a very nice fantasy outing throwing for 277 yards and 2 TDs. He also has taken very good care of the ball and has yet to throw a single pick all year on 68 attempts. Buffalo Bills Defense - The Bills are the darlings of the 2011 season, and momentum can carry all sorts of aspects of a team, including defense. No question the Bills have momentum, and they believe they can get it done after years of disappointment in Buffalo. As for the D, it's had 4 nice showings in the 5 games they have played. They are flying a little low on the fantasy radar due to a horrible week 2 showing against the Raiders, but as you look at their numbers a little closer, you realize there are much worse options out there fantasywise and the Bills are a D that can hold their own for you. Show 'em the Door (a.k.a. Drop) Note: This advice is intended for redraft leagues only. David Garrard, QB, JAX - In a surprise move, the Jaguars cut Garrard just before the start of the season. You should too. Chad Henne, QB, MIA - Henne is dinged up and that is more than enough reason to drop him. He wasn't all that impressive prior to his injury, but now he just isn't worth the hassel. Peyton Manning, QB, IND - Unless you are in some sort of keeper league, you should give up hope that Manning will return. It's over! You just have to come to grips with that. Donald Brown, RB, IND - There isn't much mope for Brown. Whatever it is? He doesn't have it! Jamaal Charles, RB, KC - Charles' season is done no thanks to a season ending knee injury suffered in week 2. Jamie Harper, RB, TEN - Give this up. Harper just isn't going to pay off at this point. Jerome Harrison, RB, DET - Jahvid Best can only hold out so long before he succumbs to injury, but Harrison won't be the answer. You have better be in a very deep league if you are hanging onto Harrison. Dexter McCluster, RB, KC - The Dexter McCluster experiment at RB is failing. Despite being given plenty of opportunity with the season ending injury to Jamaal Charles, this situation is just not working out. Isaac Redman, RB, PIT - Redman blew his chance to shine in week 5 as the show was stolen by Jonathan Dwyer. With Dwyer in the mix and Mendenhall set to return, Redman's fantasy value has tanked. C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF - Fred Jackson has looked like a super star, and Spiller has been a non-factor. If you are in a non-ppr league, he should already be long gone. If you are in a PPR league, you had better be in a real deep one if you think you need to take a chance on Spiller. He isn't worth much in most leagues. Derrick Ward, RB, HOU - Foster is back and playing well, and Ben Tate has proven that he can carry the load for Houston when Foster is limited by injury. Ward doesn't have a lot of opportunity at this point. You can let him go. Carnell Williams, RB, STL - The shelf-life on Williams was short, and his usefulness fantasywise has expired. Unless you own Steven Jackson, it is best to let Williams go at this point. Danny Amendola, WR, STL - Amendola is out for the year with a torn tricep. Kenny Britt, WR, TEN - The music Britt and his fantasy owners were making has come to an abrupt stop no thanks to a season ending knee injury suffered in week 3. Austin Collie, WR, IND - Without Peyton Manning, Collie is just another WR that you don't need to bother with. Braylon Edwards, WR, SF - Edwards has struggled and is now out due to meniscus surgery. He isn't expected back until mid-season at the earliest, and it will take time to ramp back up to the speed and timing of the NFL. Use your valuable roster spot on someone else with better upside. Donald Jones, WR, BUF - We know that Jones had his first career 100 yard game in Week 3, but we think you should put him back out there on the waivers unless you have a better option. Mario Manningham, WR, NYG - Manningham is another WR that much was expected from in the preseason. However, he is become overcome by events. Victor Cruz has been playing very well with the time he has been given. Right now, there are more exciting options out there on the waivers in most leagues. David Nelson, WR, BUF - It is hard to believe in Nelson. He had some nice games when the Bills were on fire, but we just don't see Nelson being a consistent threat. We also don't see the Bills offense as being prolific enough to support more than one fantasy WR. Cut Nelson loose. Chad Ochocinco, WR, NE - Tom Brady has been throwing for a bazillion yards every week, but hardly any of it gets to Ochocinco. Cut him loose please. Hines Ward, WR, PIT - Time has passed Ward by and the team has way too many great options at WR to use Ward on a consistent basis. You should look for a better option. Roy Williams, WR, CHI - In most leagues, you can find a better option. The team looks like it is moving on without him. You should too. Chris Cooley, TE, WAS - Cooley has been surpassed by Fred Davis. Cooley has little value in almost all formats. Jeff King, TE, ARZ - We didn't realize that anyone owned this guy. Marcedes Lewis, TE, JAX - Lewis was primed for a great season until the team stuck him with a rookie QB and a journeyman to start the season. The departure of David Garrard marked the end of Lewis' fantasy prospects in 2011. Tony Moeaki, RB, KC - Moeaki is out of the year with a season ending injury. Garrett Hartley, K, NO - Hartley is done for the season with an injury. Nate Kaeding, K, SDG - Kaeding is out of the season with an ACL tear to his left knee. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2011 Fantasy Football: Week 6 Add/Drop A list of fantasy football players you should add, drop or ignore for Week 6. 2011 Fantasy Football Week 6: Add Tim Tebow, QB, Broncos Denver has a bye next week, but Tim Tebow is still worth adding. He's a big fantasy producer because of his rushing yardage and touchdowns. Jackie Battle, RB, Chiefs Jackie Battle, who had just 155 career rushing yards entering this weekend, ran for 119 yards on 19 carries. Todd Haley really loves him, so you'll definitely want to pick him up in your fantasy leagues even though he has a bye next week. Delone Carter, RB, Colts Joseph Addai hurt his hamstring, so he could be out for a couple of weeks. Delone Carter will split carries with Donald Brown, but he'll get the goal-line carries. 2011 Fantasy Football Week 6: Buy Low Steve Johnson, WR, Bills Steve Johnson had just four catches for 29 yards, but his struggles were predictable because of Nnamdi Asomugha and the other corners. Matt Ryan, QB, Falcons Matt Ryan had a poor showing on national TV. He's thrown only three touchdowns in his previous three games, so you can buy low on him. 2011 Fantasy Football Week 6: Ignore Devin Aromashodu, WR, Vikings Devin Aromashodu had 81 yards, but only on two catches. He's a non-factor. Jason Avant, WR, Eagles Jason Avant caught nine passes for 139 yards, but it'll be a surprise if he gets anything close to that anytime soon. He's just a slot receiver. Doug Baldwin, WR, Seahawks Doug Baldwin had eight grabs for 136 yards and a score, but he's not a recommended pick-up. He's inconsistent and has a bye week coming up anyway. Jake Ballard, TE, Giants Jake Ballard is just a blocking tight end. Early Doucet, WR, Cardinals The Vikings used bracket coverage on Larry Fitzgerald, which would explain Early Doucet's solid game. 2011 Fantasy Football Week 6: Drop Devery Henderson, WR, Saints Now that Marques Colston is back, Devery Henderson is a non-factor. Dexter McCluster, RB, Chiefs It's looking like Jackie Battle will be getting most of the carries for the Chiefs going forward. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Individual Defensive Players (Only) Five weeks into the 2011 season the byes have begun and injuries continue to mount, with Houston Texans linebacker Mario Williams and Arizona Cardinals safety Kerry Rhodes the latest big name defensive players to go down and send their fantasy owners scrambling to locate replacements. With that in mind here are some players that should be available on many IDP waiver wires that are worth targeting as we head into Week 6. PICKUP OF THE WEEK Brian Robison – DE, Minnesota Vikings: With Ray Edwards departure to the Atlanta Falcons Robison entered the starting lineup for the Vikings opposite Jared Allen, and the fifth year pro has played fairly well. In Week 5 Robison notched two sacks for the second time in three games, and with a matchup upcoming with the Chicago Bears and their shaky offensive line Robison should be the top target for fantasy teams in need of DL help. Cliff Avril – DE, Detroit Lions: After getting off to a slow start Avril was jettisoned by many IDP owners, but he’s showing some signs of life as of late. Avril racked up four total tackles and a sack in Detroit’s victory over Chicago Monday night and had another sack negated by a penalty, and with favorable pass rush matchups in his next two games the fourth year veteran is certainly worth a look from teams looking to bolster their defensive line. Jeremy Mincey – DE, Jacksonville Jaguars: Injuries along the Jacksonville defensive line have led to an increased role for Mincey, and the 27-year old has responded, amassing 11 total tackles and a sack in his last three starts. Aaron Kampman’s return to action may eat into Mincey’s snaps a bit, but with a matchup on tap with a Pittsburgh Steelers team that has struggled in pass protection Mincey could be a viable spot starter for IDP squads in Week 6. Brian Rolle – WLB, Philadelphia Eagles: The end of the Casey Matthews experiment in Philadelphia thrust the former Ohio State standout into the starting lineup for the Eagles, and Rolle has played fairly well, notching nine total stops in the Eagles' loss to Buffalo Sunday. It appears that Rolle is going to be afforded the opportunity to play in subpackages as well, and anytime you can grab a 3-down linebacker off the waiver wire it’s certainly worth exploring if you have a need at the position. Jamaal Westerman – OLB, New York Jets: The season-ending injury suffered by Bryan Scott moved Westerman into the starting lineup for the Jets, and Westerman stepped up in a big way against the New England Patriots, tallying five total tackles and sacking Tom Brady twice. The 3rd year pro faces a Miami Dolphins team next Monday night that has allowed 14 sacks in four games, and IDP owners in need of a spot starter at LB could likely do worse than taking a flier on Westerman. Nate Allen – FS, Philadelphia Eagles: The second year pro appears to be fully healed from the knee injury that ended his 2010 season and had a big day in the Eagles' loss to the Buffalo Bills Sunday, leading the team with 13 tackles, including 10 solos. Philadelphia’s front seven has struggled this season, leading to more tackle opportunities for the defensive backs, and Allen absolutely merits consideration from fantasy owners in need of defensive back help. Justin King – CB, St. Louis Rams: The Rams' secondary has been ravaged by injuries, and fourth year pro Justin King is now the top cornerback in St. Louis. King is far from a worldbeater talent-wise and should be targeted with regularity by opposing quarterbacks, and with a matchup this week with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers King should be plenty busy all day chasing receivers around, which may be bad for him but is excellent for IDP owners. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Let’s take a look at a few players in this week’s waiver wire. Quarterbacks: Matt Cassel, Kansas City Chiefs Cassel looked very impressive Sunday against the Colts. The former New England Patriot QB threw for four scores and zero interceptions. The Chiefs have a bye Week 6; however, with favorable matchups following the bye against the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins, he is worth a look. Cassel is owned in just 31 percent of league’s according to Yahoo Sports. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos Tebow has experienced a tremendous amount of criticism thus far in his young NFL career. This weekend in the relief of Kyle Orton, Tebow was the spark the Broncos needed. Tebow threw for 79 yards and a TD while also tallying 38 rushing yards. Tebow is available in 90 percent of leagues. The Broncos are facing a bye this week, but following Week 6, Tebow may be inserted in the starting lineup. Curtis Painter, Indianapolis Colts Painter threw for just shy of 300 yards and two scores against the Chiefs, and has looked solid since being inserted in the starting lineup. Painter has a tough matchup coming Week 6 against the Bengals, but the former Purdue QB has proven that he has a much better grasp of the offense than Kerry Collins. As long as there is uncertainty concerning the health of Peyton Manning, Painter is worth a look. Painter is available in well over 90 percent of waiver wires. Running Backs: Jackie Battle, Kansas City Chiefs Battle had a breakout game on Sunday, rushing for 119 yards against the Indianapolis Colts. The Chiefs were desperately in need of a spark and Battle provided just that. Moving forward look for this RB to see an increase in carries. Battle is available in nearly every league. Delone Carter, Indianapolis Colts With the injury to Joseph Addai (hamstring), look for Carter to carry the ball more in Indy. Carter had a TD in Week 5, and will likely see more carries in the red zone moving forward. This RB is available in nearly every league, and will be a solid option at the flex in the future. Kendall Hunter, San Francisco 49ers Hunter has averaged at least nine carries each of the past three games for the 49ers, and it’s evident that the RB will continue to see his workload increase this season. Hunter rushed for 65 yards and also had 62 receiving yards. Hunter is available in the majority of leagues and will be a great option at the flex position. Receivers: Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks Baldwin had eight grabs for over 100 yards and a score against the New York Giants. Baldwin has emerged suddenly for the Seahawks passing attack and through the last two games he has had over 200 yards receiving. This receiver is available in nearly all leagues, and is “sleeper” pick this year. Darius Heyward-Bey, Oakland Raiders Heyward-Bey had a great game in Week 5,with one yard shy of 100 yards receiving and a TD. Jason Campbell targeted this young WR 12 times against the Houston Texans, and that is a stat that is worth keeping an eye on moving forward. Heyward-Bey is available in well over 90 percent of leagues. Victor Cruz, New York Giants For yet another week, Cruz makes this list. In Week 5 Cruz had another 100-yard receiving game and also had a TD. It is clear that Eli Manning will continue to look Cruz’s way and that bodes well for his fantasy stock. He is probably long gone in your fantasy leagues, but if he is still on waivers, you will not have many more chances to pick him up. Tight Ends: Jake Ballard, New York Giants Ballard had 72 yards receiving including one TD grab in Week 5 vs. the Seahawks. He has been a favorite of Eli Manning in the red zone, and look for that to continue moving forward. Ballard is available in the majority of leagues and he is a solid option at the flex or if your TE has a bye. Jared Cook, Tennessee Titans Cook had another solid effort in Week 5 ending the game with 59 yards receiving against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Titans have a bye Week 6, but this player is worth consideration if you have the luxury of drafting a player early in hopes of playing him Week 7. Kickers: Dan Bailey, Dallas Cowboys Bailey has cashed in on his last nine field goal attempts, and with the Cowboys offense receiving a jolt with the return of Miles Austin, look for this kicker to be a factor in fantasy. Bailey is a very accurate kicker and that is the formula for success in the NFL. This kicker is available in over 80 percent of leagues, and is a safe pick at the kicker option. Defense: Minnesota Vikings The Vikings were impressive Week 5 holding the Arizona Cardinals to 10 points and the defense forced four turnovers. The Vikings play their next game against the Chicago Bears, and the Bears offensive line has struggled at times this season. If the Vikings can pressure Jay Cutler, this defense could have a solid outing. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Hot Off the Grill Tim Tebow QB, Broncos Love him or hate him, Tim Tebow can score fantasy points in bunches. With Kyle Orton ’s failures, it was only a matter of time before Tim 3:16 took over. In just over a quarter of work, Tebow outscored Tom Brady , Matt Stafford , and Matt Ryan . More importantly, he almost led the Broncos to a comeback victory, and the smart money says he starts coming out of the bye. Rushing TDs are fantasy gold, and Tim Tebow owners are about to strike it rich. Alex Smith QB, 49ers Alex Smith has become the 2011 version of Josh Freeman . 15-20 fantasy points, consistency, and a solid weekly play. Jim Harbaugh has him playing the best football of his career, and he is also playing for a big contract. Even more, perhaps to stay in the league. The 49ers look like the best team in the NFC West and barring a major collapse, Smith is the QB for the long haul. Jackie Battle RB, Chiefs To quote Matt Cassel “I didn’t see a run where he didn’t fall foward at the end.” To quote Terez Owens “he was also playing the Colts”. Regardless, Battle has earned the right to be the primary ball carrier in the Chiefs backfield, or should I say that Dexter McCluster and Thomas Jones have unearned the right. Regardless, Battle is the guy for now, and perhaps a solution to a problem for Jamaal Charles owners. Delone Carter RB, Colts Delone Carter took over, along with Donald Brown, for an injured Joe Addai in week 5. Good news is that Carter scored and that Addai will be out more than likely a couple weeks. Bad news is that Brown looked good enough to get some reps, even though I really think the dude is bad. Carter should be the goal line back, giving him the greater value, but be ready for a craptastic time-share. Ernest Graham RB, Bucs We aren’t sure of the extent of the LeGarrette Blount knee injury, but if he is out this week, ist is Graham who should be the main guy. He also gets a real nice matchup in the Saints which makes him more than add worthy. Even if Blount plays, with the Bucs more than likely being behind, I think Graham will get a lot of play. Montario Hardesty RB, Browns I never took Peyton Hillis for a trouble-maker, but apparently the Browns have. He is fast falling out of favor with the management, and it has more to do with his contract situation than his play on the field. In the meantime, Hardestly has gotten more and more work each week, and I say by week 10, he is getting the better end of the split. He has shown to have a better skill set than Hillis, and honestly, the Browns drafted him to be the guy. That might not be too far away. Bernard Scott RB, Bengals This could go on for awhile if the Cedric Benson case drags out, but as a Benson owner, Scott is a must-have. If you don’t have him already, and he is available, grab him now. He could perform like an RB2 for three games, which could be enough to propel you into the fantasy playoffs. Pierre Garcon WR, Colts I will make a bet with anyone who wants to email me that Garcon doesn’t score 4 more TDs all year, but I can’t deny that he has been good the last 2 games. I have seen this too many times with him. He will gain our confidence, and then rip our hearts out. Curtis Painter seems to have something going with him, so as long as it’s Painter at the helm, he is worth having on your team. Damian Williams WR, Titans This is a really deep add. Williams scored for the second straight week, but has received very little in terms of targets, and is third or fourth option on a team that doesn’t have the greatest of passing attacks. He is worth a look, and I’d rather have him than Ocho cinco…not sure that’s saying a whole lot, but it’s at least saying something. Doug Baldwin WR, Seahawks Just when everyone wanted to run out and get Alec’s long lost brother, he is headed to a bye week. Regardless, I’d take a flyer on him and see if he continues to be targeted frequently in Seattle. He could turn into an Austin Collie type, well the good Austin Collie…we hope. Darius Heyward-Bey WR, Raiders This is the first time in my life I have typed a DHB update and felt halfway good about it. I’m not sure what to expect here, but as I heard in the Twittersphere “12 targets isn’t anything to shake a stick at.” Well, it depends on how many of the 12 he catches. Who knows, perhaps Al Davis on his deathbed told DHB “I missed on J-Marc, at least make me look like I was halfway sane in my final years”…The guy can fly, I suppose he is proving he can catch too. Kevin Walter WR, Texans This waiver wire could be renamed “inconsistent guys that pop up and disappear twice a year, every year”. Well, Walter is one of them. This guy at one point was a “breakout candidate”, a “TD machine”, the “other guy getting single coverage opposite AJ”. Well now, he is the main guy getting single coverage without AJ. Take that for what it’s worth. I wouldn’t be overly excited, but I’d rather have him over Ochocinco, oh wait I used him already, ok, how about Chad Johnson. Jake Ballard TE, Giants Back to back weeks with a TD for a tight end will put him on any waiver wire list across America. Remember when Kevin Boss played for the Giants? Yep, it’s pretty much the same. Still Simmering Naaman Roosevelt WR, Bills Donald Duck is done for the year, and this Roosevelt guy, no relation to the President, is taking over. In deep leagues, sure, why not? In shallow leagues, leave him for the birds, or the Duck-Billed Platypusses…get it? Yep, I’m tired and this is longest waiver wire in the history of waiver wires. Mark Clayton WR, Rams He will return to the lineup in the next couple of weeks and could immediately get into the starting lineup. Greg Little WR, Browns The Browns will move Little up into the starting lineup this week. Colt 45 McCoy still doesn’t keep his eyes downfield, but Little is worth a stash on your bench if he steps up. Steve Breaston WR, Chiefs This guy was once pretty good when Kurt Warner was throwing to him. He is back on the radar after a 2 TD performance in week 5. A Terez Owens T-shirt says he doesn’t score twice the rest of the season. Ed Dickson TE, Ravens The guy is getting targeted a ton, but need to start turning that into production. Should see more and more action in the upcoming weeks. Keep him on your radar. Joel Dreesen TE, Texans I feel like every year this guy comes out of the Hidden Valley and pours himself out into a couple big games. He did it again in week 5. Even our own Newman was impressed. Cooked in a Dirty Microwave Jason Avant WR, Eagles Getting targets, big turnovers in week 5. I wouldn’t count on a whole lot moving forward. Hines Ward WR, Steelers I was so excited that my 5 years running prediction of Ward being finished was coming true, that I jinxed him into 2 TDs. See Breaston, Steve above. That’s about how I feel. Jacoby Jones WR, Texans Stick to returning kicks. Iv’e been waiting for you to step up for 3 years, and you are still the same clumsly, bad route runner you were then. James Jones WR, Packers The 4th guy on the Packers is better than the #1 on some teams, but I wouldn’t be overly excited about the big game. Trust me, you will start him and he will break your heart by dropping a 60 yard bomb. Devin Aroshmadu WR, Vikings I could have sworn I’m still waiting for this guys breakout season with the Bears. Oh wait, that was the beginning of last year. Now, he even has a worse QB. No thank you. Captain Obvious Ryan Torain RB, Redskins Victor Cruz WR, Giants Brandon Pettigrew TE, Lions Jermaine Gresham TE, Bengals Drop ‘Em Like They’re Hot Donovan Mcnabb QB, Vikings Kyle Orton QB, Broncos Chad Ochocinco WR, Patriots Bernard Berrian WR, Vikings Dallas Clark TE, Colts

Nice writeup.
I'd add that Jacoby Jones may see a reduction with the new signing of Derrick Mason. Plus this week he's up against baltimore's D coming off bye. Similiar for avant who is up against a very good D in washington (2nd against the pass opposed to buffalo 27th). Some others on bye. (bladwin, Breaston) but only for this week obviously. Picked up gaffney myself.

Hi sweety,
Captain Obvious said "Victor Cruz" and he just scores touchdowns. Heyward-Bey looks good this week plus he listed Torain. Where did you find that capt obvious article? I am starting to look back at some of the add/drop articles and see that they move on after a week and go to the next best thing I will be home saturday morning |
