Week #3 Injury News

WR-Donte Stallworth- Missed practice Thursday. Game time decision.

Joey Galloway- Will miss this week.

Devin Hester- Hopeful that he will play in week 3. He has torn cartilage in his rib cage.

Jerry Porter- Jerry Porter (hamstring) is not on this week's injury report, but Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio isn't committing to using him in Week 3.

The Jaguars' website believes that Porter will again be a "day-of-the-game decision" against the Colts. The team will see if he can make it through the week unscathed. Porter has yet to suit up in a game for Jacksonville.

Javon Walker- Javon Walker was unable to finish Raiders practice Wednesday due to continued trouble with his hamstring.

"Here’s the guy who was supposed to be the No. 1 receiver when he comes in," coach Lane Kiffin said. Kiffin doesn't do much to hide his distaste for the Walker signing. "Unfortunately he’s had some issues and he’s had the injuries, and here we go again." Walker is uncertain to face the Bills. We'd drop him in all leagues.

RB
Ryan Grant- Expected to play in week 3 but has missed practice Wednesday and Thursday due to groin.

Laurence Maroney & LaMont Jordan- Absent for start of practice on Thursday. Looks like both will be out Sunday. Sammy Morris a play for week 3.

Chester Taylor- Could play more in week 3 due to Peterson's injury.

Maurice Jones Drew- Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio expressed no concern about Maurice Jones-Drew's ankle injury at his Wednesday presser.

In fact, Del Rio said that MJD can expect an increased workload against the Colts. "We have to get him the ball more," the coach said. "He’s an exciting, dynamic football player. We need to find a way to get him touches."

Justin Fargas- Raiders beat writer Jerry McDonald guesses that Justin Fargas will miss Weeks 3 and 4 before Oakland's Week 5 bye.

Fargas could use that time before Oakland visits New Orleans in Week 6. We'd definitely hang on to Fargas in the meantime, but he's at risk of losing his starting job to Darren McFadden.

Darren McFadden- Coach Lane Kiffin indicated that Darren McFadden (turf toe) could have played if the Raiders had a game Wednesday.

McFadden didn't practice and was in a walking boot. The Raiders are expected to play if safe with the No. 4 overall pick in Week 3, and the Oakland Tribune suggests that Michael Bush "could be in for 25+ carries" against Buffalo if McFadden experiences pain early on. Keep track of this situation.

Willis McGahee- Coach John Harbaugh on Wednesday reiterated coordinator Cam Cameron's comments from last week that the Ravens will likely use a committee at tailback even though Willis McGahee (knee) is healthy again.

"We're going to use all of our good players," Harbaugh said, likely referring also to LeRon McClain and possibly Ray Rice. "We're going to put our running backs out there and let them play." McGahee ran with the first team Wednesday, but he is going to lose work. He looks like a flex play, not a RB2.

TE
Ben Utecht- Missed practice Thursday. Doubtful for action.

Wide Recievers (continued)

Reggie Brown-
Eagles coach Andy Reid indicated Wednesday that Reggie Brown (hamstring) will not start in Week 3 even if he's active.

"I don't know about starting, but if he's ready to go, he'll be in there," Reid said. Brown has been battling a bum hamstring for over a month now. He won't be a fantasy option against the Steelers, but we'd hang on to him for now.

Injury News

TE Todd Heap (wrist) probable

WR Devin Hester (ribs) After not practicing all week, Bears WR/KR Devin Hester is questionable for Week 3 vs. Tampa Bay. Hester said he has "a little torn cartilage" in his rib area and is starting to feel better, but the Bears Pro Bowl returner didn't want to speculate about his status on Wednesday

WR Braylon Edwards (shoulder) Questionable Browns WR Braylon Edwards is questionable for Week 3 at Baltimore with a shoulder injury. He was limited in practice all week. (Updated 09/19/2008)

TE Jason Witten is probable

RB Ryan Grant is Porbable The Green Bay Packers should be in good shape for their Sunday night game against Dallas, listing running back Ryan Grant and cornerback Charles Woodson as probable on the injury report. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after practice Friday that Grant and Woodson would play Sunday. Grant went through the full practice after being off the field most of the week to allow extra recovery for a sore hamstring that has bothered him since early in the preseason. "He looked good," McCarthy said. "I thought he had more bounce in his step. I thought he looked better this week than last week." (Updated 09/19/2008)

RB Ahman Green Texans RB Ahman Green (knee) missed a second straight practice Thursday as the team prepares for Week 5 at Tennessee, and Houston head coach Gary Kubiak told NFL.com he's not expecting Green to suit up Sunday. "He worked a little harder (Thursday)," Kubiak said. "He's not working with the team, though, so he didn't practice. It looked like he was getting closer. It's never looked very good for this week unless something really big happens by (Friday). It doesn't look very good for this week, but I sure hope he's available for next week." (Updated 09/18/2008)

RB Maurice Jones Drew The official team web site reports Friday that Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew is probable for Week 3 at Indianapolis. Jones-Drew sprained his right ankle in Week 2 vs. Buffalo but appears to be ready to play against the Colts. (Updated 09/19/2008)

WR Jerry Porter Jaguars WR Jerry Porter likely will miss a third consecutive game Sunday at Indianapolis. Although Porter (hamstring) was listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, coach Jack Del Rio said he doesn't believe the team's top offseason free-agent acquisition will play against the Colts. "He's not likely to play. He's not quite ready," Del Rio said Friday. Porter, who signed a $30 million contract in February, had surgery to repair a torn hamstring in July and missed all of training camp and the preseason. He returned to practice two weeks ago, but wasn't active in either game. Without the big-play receiver, the Jaguars (0-2) have struggled on offense. (Updated 09/19/2008)

RB Adrian Peterson Vikings RB Adrian Peterson returned to practice Friday, but he was limited in his work and remained questionable for Sunday's game because of a hamstring injury. Coach Brad Childress said he would wait until shortly before the game against Carolina to decide whether Peterson, who leads the NFL with 263 yards rushing, will participate. He'll be treating the muscle extensively over the next two days. If Peterson can't go, Chester Taylor - a 1,200-yard rusher in 2006 - will take his place in the backfield. Either way, Taylor could assume a larger role against the Panthers. He has been returning kickoffs, too, and is sixth in the league with a 28.5-yard average. Peterson, who missed 2.5 games due to a sprained knee in 2007, said he plans to play but must convince the trainers and coaches he's not risking aggravation - and developing a problem that lingers for weeks - by not being at full strength. (Updated 09/19/2008)

WR Sidney Rice Vikings WR Sidney Rice was limited in Friday's practice and is questionable for Sunday against Carolina. He sprained his right knee last week. (Updated 09/19/2008)

RB LaMont Jordan The Patriots held RB LaMont Jordan out of practice Wednesday and Thursday with a foot injury. He is considered questionable for Week 3 vs. the Dolphins. (Updated 09/17/2008)

RB Darren McFadden The San Francisco Chronicle reports that injured Raiders RB Darren McFadden returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday because of a turf toe injury. McFadden practiced with a steel plate latched onto his right foot. "It made me feel like I was running flat-footed," McFadden said Thursday. "When I was first getting out there, I was kind of being shy about it." (Updated 09/18/2008)

RB Justin Fargas The San Francisco Chronicle reports that injured Raiders RB Justin Fargas missed a second straight practice Thursday because of a groin injury. "We'll be on the safe side with Justin," head coach Lane Kiffin said. (Updated 09/18/2008)

WR Javon Walker Raiders WR Javon Walker was back on the practice field Thursday after failing to finish Wednesday because of a lingering hamstring injury. The San Francisco Chronicle reports Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin said Walker "seemed fine" and was able to push through practice Thursday. Still, he remains a game-time decision Sunday against the Bills. (Updated 09/18/2008)

WR Reggie Brown is probable

QB Ben Roethlisberger is probable
