Hottest Home Teams in MLB
It comes as no secret to anyone that Major League Baseball teams have played much better at home this season then on the road. Home teams in MLB are winning about 58 percent of all games this year. If this figure stands, it will mark one of the highest winning percentages of home teams in the last 75 years. The big question is whether of not the first half of the season was a good indicator or not. The Major League record for most home wins in a single season was set way back in 1961 by the New York Yankees who won 65 games at home. This season both the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs are on pace to match this record. Let’s take a look at some of the hottest home teams:
Boston Red Sox (36-11) – The Red Sox have been red hot at home this season. They are on pace for 62 wins at home this season. They have a .644 winning percentage at Fenway Park dating back to the beginning of the 2003 season. This season marks the fifth time that they have won over 50 games at home. The only problem here is that Boston is not getting very good odds when playing at home. You are laying the price almost every time, but I think they are worth it for sure. Boston has swept their opponent in 6 of their 15 home series this season. I feel that the way to go would be a run line wager.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays (36-14) – This season the Rays have managed to surprise almost everyone. They are off to one of their best season in franchise history and are dominating teams at home. They have been sizzling hot as of late, going 15-1 in their last 16 home games against division opponents. The Rays are always a solid bet at home, so make sure you capitalize.
Chicago Cubs (37-12) – This season the Cubs are on pace to win 61 game at home. They have been crushing teams at home at Wrigley Field and look to continue. The Cubs have a winning percentage of 74, as it is one of the best in baseball. They are third in hitting and until someone can find a way to solve them they should continue to be cash cows and make bettors tons of money.
