Most MLB experts predicted the Philadelphia Phillies to win the World Series but they ran in to the hottest team in baseball and Chris Carpenter out dueled Roy Halladay as the two teams from the NL Central will face off in the NLCS for the right to represent the National League in the World Series against either the Tigers or Rangers.

The Brewers who have been the best home team in baseball are slight favorites over the Cards, according to the oddsmakers, about -140 favorites. Milwaukee is also favored to win the World Series. Milwaukee is +215 with Texas +225, Detroit +300 and St. Louis +325 also available.

In game one which will take place on Sunday the Brewers are -143 favorites. Zack Greinke will start for the Brewers while the Cardinals are expected to start Jaime Garcia in the opener. Garcia was 13-7 on the year with a respectable 13-7 record with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. He was on the 3-2 losing end against the Phillies this past Tuesday but pitched well, tossing 7 innings and surrendering 3 earned runs. He faced the Brewers twice this year, posting a 1-0 record with a 1.93 ERA. For Milwaukee, Greinke went 16-6 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.20 WHIP but was virtually unhittable at home this season. The Brewers were 16-0 when Greinke starts this season which includes a 9-4 victory in Game 2 of the NL Division Series. He faced Milwaukee twice this year going 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA.

These two rivals faced each other 18 times this year with each team winning 9 of them. Both teams are loaded on offense and know each other very well. Pujols (St. Louis) and Braun & Fielder (Milwaukee) are three of the top offensive threats in the game. Pujols  was 7 for 20 with three doubles against the Phillies and Braun was an impressive 9 for 18 with four doubles and five runs scored against the Diamondbacks.
