NASCAR Betting - Edwards favored for race win, Johnson for the title

Offshore sportsbook players who prefer the high-speed action of NASCAR betting are preparing for the final race of the season, the Ford 400 to be held at Homestead-Miami Speedway this Sunday. Jimmie Johnson enters this race as a massive favorite to earn his third straight Sprint Cup championship as he holds a 141-point lead over Carl Edwards in the standings, but Edwards is the NASCAR betting favorite this weekend at a track that has been hugely successful for his Roush-Fenway team. Edwards’ teammate, Matt Kenseth, took the checkered flag last year, the fourth consecutive triumph at Homestead-Miami for the Roush-Fenway team.

Edwards is the NASCAR betting favorite at +275, and he has performed very well on this track in his four races. The No.99 driver’s average finish of 7.8 is easily the best among active drivers, and he has an awesome 2.25 average finish in his last four starts, including back-to-back wins at Atlanta and Texas. It must be disheartening after all that, Edwards still needs a miracle to claim the title, but a win at Homestead-Miami would still be a great end to a spectacular season for Edwards.

Johnson has NASCAR Miami odds of +550 this week, and his 13.4 average finish leaves him in the middle of the pack. But that should not bother offshore sportsbook players, as Johnson has only needed a solid finish to win the last two titles here. You can bet that if the chips were down, the No.48 driver would be the NASCAR betting favorite, as he proved with his dominating win at Phoenix last week after people started to wonder he was losing his edge due to a 15th-place run at Texas.

Other drivers to consider when going through your offshore sportsbook odds this weekend are, of course, any of the Roush-Fenway drivers. Greg Biffle (NASCAR Miami odds of +275) won three straight races here from 2004-2006, while David Ragan (+2300) finished a respectable tenth in his first trip to Homstead-Miami last year. Jamie McMurray (+2300) has four top-sevens in his last five starts, while Kenseth (+800) will be aiming to defend his title. Outside of Roush-Fenway, Kevin Harvick (NASCAR Miami odds of +2800) has a 10.1 finishing average and five top-tens in seven Homestead-Miami races, and would be the best bet among this season’s winless drivers to take a checkered flag into the offseason.
