NASCAR Betting – Johnson favored to roll at Lowe’s
Jimmie Johnson leads a charmed life. The No.48 driver defied all the odds and avoided every major wreck last week at Talladega despite being in close proximity to them, not to mention the fact that he had a horrible car. This week’s stop in the Chase for the Sprint Cup is the Bank of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Saturday night, and NASCAR odds say Johnson is the man to beat at the track they call “Jimmie’s House”. Hendrick teammate Jeff Gordon is the defending race-winner at this event.
Bank of America 500 – Lowe’s Motor Speedway, October 11, 7:25 PM
NASCAR betting has made Johnson a +350 favorite this week, and he is tied with Gordon with five career wins at Lowe’s, who just happens to sponsor the No.48 Chevrolet. Johnson has a ridiculous 11 top-tens in 14 trips to Lowe’s, and two of the three races where he finished outside the top-ten resulted in DNFs. If you were to bet against Johnson, this is a tough track to do so at, especially as he has the pole after rain washed out qualifying on Friday.
Roush teammates Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards are next with NASCAR odds of +500, and Edwards has had an eventful week. First, he took out Biffle, fellow teammate Matt Kenseth and a host of others after bump-drafting Biffle too aggressively at Talladega. Then he got into an altercation with Kevin Harvick, who was also collected in Edwards’ mess and had some choice words for him. But the No.99 driver has the best average finish at Lowe’s among active drivers at 7.6, and you can bet on Edwards to challenge Johnson from the No.2 spot on the grid.
Tony Stewart broke his 43-race winless streak in controversial fashion at Talladega, but a win is a win, and the No.20 driver only needs one to begin one of his patented streaks. Stewart is a solid value pick with NASCAR odds of +1200, and he has an average finish of 13.2 at Lowe’s, along with a win in the fall race of 2003.
Another great darkhorse to go with according to NASCAR odds is Kasey Kahne, who is rated at +1600. The No.9 driver is not in the Chase, which means he is racing solely for the checkered flag, and he won the spring and All-Star races at Lowe’s already this season, making it four overall. Do not be surprised to see the No.9 Budweiser Dodger racing with the leaders on Saturday night under the lights at Richmond.
