The Green Bay Packers are the odds on favorites to win the 2013 NFC Championship at +295 odds with the oddsmakers liking the New Orleans Saints at +405 and the New York Giants at +605 next. It’s no coincidence that these teams also own the three best quarterbacks in the NFC. Rodgers, Brees and Manning are all at the top of everyone’s quarterback list.
Of the six NFC teams to make the playoffs in 2011, all of them had franchise quarterbacks. Joining the big three above are Matt Ryan, Matthew Stafford and the only one to be debated Alex Smith. We call him a franchise quarterback because he was a first round pick.
Back to the betting odds, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys both had less than impressive seasons at 8-8. Both have an excellent chance to make the playoffs and even represent the NFC in the Super Bowl according to the oddsmakers.
