The 2009 NFL season is around the corner. NFL teams are beginning preparing for mini camps while sports bettors and fans wait with anticipation for the opening NFL regular season games in early September.

CappersMall.com has announced their eight annual season NFL contest, a contest that pairs sports bettors vs. sports experts for the right to be called the best NFL handicapper. Generally considered one of the best free sports handicapping contests on the internet, football experts from all around the internet come to CappersMall to compete in the NFL competition.

The contest takes place in the forums where players pick three games a week worth one unit each. Players also have the ability to pass on three weeks during the season.

Last season, CappersMall forum member Carlito won the competition of 200 plus entries with an impressive 32-11-2 record finishing up $1,990.00. All picks are posted before games begin for everyone to see.

It was a competitive contest with a lot of great handicapping. Finishing in second place was spliff with a 34-15-2 record (+1,750.00) with mindripper coming in third place with a 32-15-1 record for plus $1,550.00.

Overall sports bettors who tailed the leaders had a successful NFL season with the top 15 on the leaderboard finishing up over $1,000.

• You must be registered in the Cappers Mall forums • One entry/ip per person • Contest will start with the first reg season game and end with the last regular season game • Only NFL plays (sides and totals) will be allowed • Each contestant must select three plays per week • Each play will be worth 110/100 • Each contestant is allowed three weekends to not select plays (pass). More than 3 passes will be disqualified and will not be eligible for any prize including last place.
• You may not pass on the last week of contest.
• Less than 3 plays submitted will constitute a loss for every pick under 3.
• This contest will be the regular season only • Threads will be started for the week every Tuesday and lines will be from Tuesday lines and will not change.
• Everyone will use the same lines
• Only plays entered in the correct contest thread will be counted. You may post any time prior to any game, however you may only post once per week. Use all three of your games in one post. If you start a new thread with your picks it will be deleted. You must post in the contest thread.
• You may not edit any post. I believe we have removed the edit feature from this contest so it should not be an issue • Cappers Mall and/or scorekeeper will be the official judge of this contest.
• Each week will end after the Monday Night football game of the week.
• Standings will be kept weekly and will be posted every Tuesday • If you select a game where the line has not been posted yet - you agree to whatever line ends up being posted
