Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins traded Jason Taylor to the Washington Redskins for a second and sixth round pick. Miami will receive the Redskins second round pick in 2009 and sixth round pick in 2010.

The Redskins moved quickly to close this deal when starting defensive end Phillip Daniels was lost to a season ending knee injury.

Jason Taylor and the Miami Dolphins have been heading for a split ever since Bill Parcells was hired by the Miami Dolphins to oversee the Dolphins football operations. Management was angered when Taylor elected to participate on Dancing with the Stars instead of appearing at some mini camps early in the summer. Parcells has long been an old school football guy and it was clear these ego's clashed early on.

Taylor has played his entire career in Miami since being drafted out of Akron over a decade ago by then head coach Jimmy Johnson. Taylor won the NFL's defensive player of the year award just two years ago but did not want to go through another rebuilding year in Miami. The 1-15 season last year really wore out Taylor and Miami released his long time teammate Zack Taylor several months ago. Thomas later signed with Taylor's new teams division rival.

Taylor finishes his Dolphins career with 662 tackles, 117 sacks, 7 interceptions and 3 touchdowns.
