The Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi plays host to this weeks PGA Tour event, The Viking Classic. The course features Bermuda grass tees, fairways and greens. Has a par of 72 and measures 7,200 yards. Has hosted 15 PGA tour events and over those events ranks in the top 20% easiest scoring courses in PGA Tour history. Green speed this week is expected to run at around 11.5 on the stimpmeter.
The field this week is certainly not one where you can say its a strong major type field. None of the world's top 30 ranked golfers will tee it up. With the highest world ranked player being David Toms who is number 32. Both Bodog and The Greek have Chad Campbell the outright market favorite. The Greek has him listed at +1615 and Bodog +1600. Chad has shown a liking in his career for Bermuda greens and has outstanding recent form on this week's course. He won in 2007 and finished fourth and second in his two prior visits to Annandale.
Other previous Viking Classic winners who are in the field this week Include : D.J. Trahan (2006), listed at +2550 at The Greek. Heath Slocum (2005), +2550 at The Greek and +3300 at Bodog. Will MacKenzie (2008), not listed at The Greek and +12500 at Bodog.
As per usual The Greek will offer various tournament player vs. player matchups for the tournament and on a round by round basis. The first round commences 7am EST Thursday.
