The Chicago Cubs are now favored to win the 2008 World Series, just as we head in to the all-star break for the Mid Summer Classic.

Bookmaker.com has the Chicago Cubs as +325 to win the World Series. With one more day before the break, the Cubs will finish the first half of the season with the best record in baseball.

After the Cubs, the Boston Red Sox are next at +355. Boston is in a dog fight in the AL East. With one game to play before the break, Boston trails the Tampa Bay Rays by 1/2 game. Tampa has lost 6 games in a row and Boston has been able to pick up ground going 6-5 down the stretch.

Philadelphia is next at +660. The Phillies have played up and down this year and have a small 1/2 game lead over the surging Mets who have won eight straight and a one game lead over the Florida Marlins.

The next three teams are a bit of a surprise. The Chicago White Sox has a dismal year in 2007 but have bounced back to lead the AL Central Division. Bookmaker.com has Chicago at +695 to win the World Series. Tampa Bay has been baseball's biggest surprise. Although they are in the midst of the season's worst losing streak at six game, Tampa seems to have a complete team to complete down the stretch. Tampa is +725 with Milwaukee right behind at +750. The Brewers added CC Sabathia from the Cleveland Indians to help catch the Chicago Cubs or a wildcard spot.

The Los Angeles Angels are +800 followed by the New York Mets who are the hottest team in baseball right now at +860. The team with the highest payroll, the New York Yankees find themselves in a dog fight just to make the playoffs. New York is +1500 to win it all this year. Less than a month ago the Yankees were +765 to win the World Series and they have seen their odds drop dramatically by the oddsmakers.

Other big jumpers are the St. Louis Cardinals at +1800, the surging Minnesota Twins at +1850 and the Detroit Tigers, who finally fought their way back to .500 at +2400.

The sportsbooks still do not believe in the Florida Marlins or the Texas Rangers who are both at +5500.
