Last year the New York Giants, representing the NFC had one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history when they defeated the undefeated New England Patriots. The Giants betting odds are 5/1 on New York to repeat as NFC Champions.
The favorites of the NFC are the Dallas Cowboys who are 7/2 to win the NFC Championship. Last year the Cowboys were upset at home in the divisional playoff against the Giants.
After Dallas are the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers at 7/1. The Eagles failed to make the playoffs last season and the Packers were an overtime and a Brett Favre interception away from advancing to the Super Bowl. This year the Packers will have to make their run without Favre who retired from the NFL.
The oddsmakers are expecting the New Orleans Saints to bounce back this year after getting off to a miserable start last season and failing to make the playoffs. The Saints along with the Seattle Seahawks in head coach Mike Holmgren's final year are 10/1 to win the NFC.
One possible value long shot could be the Carolina Panthers at 22/1 who were predicted to represent the Super Bowl by many last year but also failed to make the post season.
