The USA soccer team is one win away from making the second round of the World Cup. They play Algeria on Wednesday. Here’s the Group C preview from BroburySports.com.

The odds for this game are USA +111 and Algeria +275. A tie comes in at +245. The over/under in goals is 2.5, with the ‘under’ at -142. Game-time is 10:00 am ET.
The USA got a fortunate 1-1 tie in the opener against England. That was when Clint Dempsey got a gift score off goaltender Robert Green.
The Americans also tied last game, 2-2 with Slovenia. It was a frenetic USA comeback from a 2-0 deficit.
Maurice Edu thought he scored the game-winner in the 85th minute, but it wasn’t allowed by referee Koman Coulibaly. USA still hasn’t got a confirmation on what the call was and likely never will.
USA can now advance with a win over Algeria. Algeria had a 1-0 loss to Slovenia and then a 0-0 draw with England. Algeria is still alive to advance, but must win and then hope for a Slovenia win or tie against England. They can also get in if Slovenia loses, but goal tiebreakers are involved.
The England and Slovenia contest will also be played at 10:00 am ET.
England is under a tremendous amount of pressure. They’ve only scored one goal, not what was expected with strikers like Wayne Rooney. Coach Fabio Capello had a great reputation coming into the tourney and England was one of the favorites to win the whole thing. He’ll likely resign if they don’t advance.
Capello did make a bold move last game by benching Green in favor of 39-year-old David James. That was the right move, although it won’t matter if they don’t put the ball in the net.
England is a -222 favorite, with Slovenia at +550. A tie comes in at +320. The total in goals is set at 2 ½, with ‘under’ at -142.
England advances with a win. Slovenia advances with a win or a tie.
