If Loyola wins the NCAA tournament...

Would you say it was a more unlikely feat than UMBC, #16 seed, beating a #1 seed? Never been a double digit seed winner of the tourney, but a 16 never beat a 1 before this year either. Both equally tough feats to accomplish and would be amazing if both happened this year. Go Ramblers!!

IMO Loyola-Chicago winning the belt >>>> UMBC beating #1

UMBC was 1 game ... Ramblers 5 (if it happened ......)

Loyola easy. Anybody can win one game if everything goes there way. In a 68 team tourney, the cream usually rises.

Agree with NYK and Wayne. Loyola feet way tougher but what UMBC did was great it was just 1 game.

Another thing to add ...

The spotlight is shining bright on the Ramblers, Everybody is talking about them.

Most have already forgotten all about UMBC ... old news.

A friend for the heck of it put $20 to win $1800 on Loyola before the tourney started.

Very few if any offered that. But would be around the 160-1 mark.

Some sports like horse racing and golf, bets of those odds win reasonably regularly.

Basketball, very rarely.

Also the halftime fulltime double, would have paid equally as handsomely.

Tie/Umbc around 140-1.

Unlikely feat lol.

They won 3 pk'em games pretty much and won as a 5 point dog.

What was VCU against Kansas a few years ago? +12?

Could this be the 1st time an open 6 game ML parlay wouldn't pay as much as the odds to win the championship?

The only reason Loyola's odds to win it all were so high was because everyone was betting the other 67 teams, hammering Nova/UVA/Kansas/Duke etc....

They are the #1 team versus the spread, imagine if Vegas did the right thing and made them the favorite against Miami/Nevada/KST.

Perception is a big thing and the Ramblers have been fooling everyone this season. Good to see.

virginia has zero nba prospects in this draft.......once they got down 10 I knew it was over. They were not an all-time great team, even if they had somehow won it all. Period. First time in my life that when i watched a lowly ranked team play a highest ranked team, that the eye test made me remark at how much better umbc was.

Now if a 16 ever beats a 1 seed that has stacked NBA talent, then you can mark it down as an automatic "greatest upset of all-time". The fact that Virginia lost by 20, actually makes it not even an upset imo. An upset is when you barely hang on and win against a team much greater than you.

I have to say that while both of these feats are amazing and the whole story with sister jean and the ramblers is remarkable but I think the UMBC throttling of Virginia is more remarkable. Virginia was 31-3 and the overall #1 seed. They were 17-1 in the best conference. 16 seeds were 0-135 I believe before this upset by UMBC. And the way they just kicked their ass in the second half. Holy shit. I still can not believe it. People can say all they want about Virginia not being able to win with that style. They just get after you defensively and what they did this year especially from a D standpoint was crazy. To me UMBC beating them was more remarkable

How many remember Michigan should have lost in round 2? Now they have a chance to win it all.

Yes you are right. And who could forget when Michigan in 2013 was to dead to rights against Kansas and Trey Burke hit the DEEP 3!!! Hope we can seal the deal this year and win it all!

After reading the posts by Jahred I thought a lot more about this. I have done a total 180 on it. UMBC is the clear choice. Not only because they are the one and only 16 to ever beat a 1 seed, but because of how they did it as well. As great a story as Loyola was, they are what ... the 3rd 11 seed to make the Final 4?

Loyola will be talked about moving forward but not nearly as much as UMBC. And the legend will only grow larger if it takes a long time to see another 16 beat a 1
