Chicago People

I tried asking Greasy Greek but he’s busy so I’ll ask others in here.

8 of us are coming to Chicago July 23-29 for vacation. Hitting the Brewers 24th/Cubs 25th/Sox 27th.

Do you know a ballpark price on a cab ride from Ohare to downtown by the pier?

Any ideas on the most cost effective way to get there.

2 cabs, 2 Uber, maybe a limo. Hotel doesn’t have a shuttle

Also...in relation to the magnificent mile area where we are staying.

Best deep dish pizza?
Sports bar?
Best lunch spot?
Chill bar/grill for dinner and maybe some blues

Any other recommendations?

Take the CTA train from
O ‘Hare downtown, walk or cab to hotel and take in the summer skirts to the Pier

Lou, Malnotti’s, uno/duo’s, or Gino’s East for deep dish

Sports bars around Wrigley Galor

Halstead Street restaurants, Steak houses all over downtown, my fav is Gene & Georgette’s, Franklin and Illinois

Blues clubs along Lincoln and Fullerton, near north
But Buddy Guy has his own club, near South Side not far from Mag Mile

There should be concerts at Grant Park, and a stroll along Oak Street Beach will have sites to behold

Bars along Division and Rush, loaded with talent

Butch Maguire’s awesome brunch Sundays. Butches was one of first single bars in the US. Min age then for men, 25, women may have been 18.

Boat ride along Chicago River is Great . My preference as opposed to the ones out on the Lake

Enjoy yourselves. Chicago is a great city and none have a lake front like it

Going on from Bob's good post............

Take the Blue Line CTA from OHare for sure. You'll learn how to use the system and have a card for the week. This will help you go to Wrigley/Comiskey.

Taxis and ubers aren't bad, but traffic is, almost always. I'd avoid driving as much as possible.

People are friendly in the Miller Park tailgates. I trade for food every game, always bribing alcohol.

Take the Brown Line to Wrigley, not the Red. Get off at Belmont, and walk to park. You want to ride with 5,000 people, or 500. This is the biggest tip anyone will give you. There are bars everywhere.

Take the Red Line to 35th for sox game, it is not bad at all. Don't forget to get lower level seats, otherwise it isn't a great experience. Ask here about tickets for this.

If you are going to night Brewers game followed by the Cubs day game, you could order all the pizzas Bob mentioned to your hotel for dinner and relax, so you can try every pizza you can.

Breakfast = Welcome to Wildberry Cafe

Quick Breakfast/Lunch = Do-Rite Donuts (I could eat this every day)

Big group you got so those are my best suggestions.
Have fun, hope you get great weather

Owner was a buddy of my brothers when both were degenerate gamblers at Chicago race tracks , hence the name.

Don’t go sober as you may be the only one, but go hungry. Awesome Charbroiled Chicago Style hot dogs, burgers and polish dogs served at this outdoor stand til about the same time the Sun comes up

Located on Clark Street in Lincoln Park
