Geelong best bets & quaddie tips | November 30, 2022
November 28, 2022 6:55 pm. Ciaran Jackman What Geelong Races Where Geelong Racecourse – 99 Breakwater Rd, Breakwater VIC 3219 When Wednesday, November 30, 2022 First Race 1pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes This Wednesday afternoon we head to Geelong for a competitive eight-race country program. The track is currently rated a Good 4, and considering there is no rain on the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, we should be in the Good range come raceday. The rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit, and the first race will jump at 1pm AEDT. Best Bet: Highland Hill The opening Maiden Plate over 2400m looks to be a nice race for the Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock-trained Highland Hill, who will be looking to break his duck at his fourth career start. This son of Highland Reel has run in the placings at two of his three starts in his short career, with his best being his most recent start at Moe over 2050m. The winner of that race, Gottabesavvy, has since come out and run third in a $175,000 handicap at Cranbourne on November 12, while the second-placed runner won at Cranbourne on November 25. This guy was only 1.8 lengths off those two runners at Moe, and he beat the rest of the field comfortably. With even luck, this gelding should be able to break his maiden in a field that seems to lack quality. Best Bet Race 1 – silks#6 Highland Hill (5) 3yo Gelding | T: Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock | J: Blake Shinn (58kg) $2.50 with Neds Next Best Bet: Riverplate In the Class 1 Handicap over 1500m we will be siding with the Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young-trained Riverplate, who recorded an easy 3.75-length victory last start over 1400m at Sandown. This son of Flying Artie came over from New Zealand earlier this year with very good form, even though he was a maiden, as he had recorded four placings from eight starts. Last start, this guy was heavily backed first-up when returning from a five-month spell and he duly saluted by leading from the barriers to the winning post while being eased down in the final 50 metres. This gelding clearly has above-average ability, and now that he has broken his maiden, we expect him to only get better and grow in confidence. Next Best Bet Race 5 – silks#1 Riverplate (9) 4yo Gelding | T: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young | J: Blake Shinn (60kg) $2.90 with Betfair Best Value Bet: Papillon Club In the Maiden Plate over 1200m for three-year-old fillies we will be siding with the Greg Eurell-trained Papillon Club, who was good on debut when running three lengths back in second behind a smart one, River Ribble, at Cranbourne over 1200m on July 7. Since her debut she has been given a five-month spell, returning with two very nice jumpouts at Cranbourne over 760m and 1000m, with her last over 1000m on November 14 being the better of the two. This daughter of Toronado will need a little bit of luck from barrier eight on Wednesday, but if Craig Williams can get this girl across the field and push forward to sit a couple of pairs back from the leaders, she will give us a good sight at $10 with online Bookmakers. Best Value Race 3 – silks#9 Papillon Club (8) 3yo Filly | T: Greg Eurell | J: Craig Williams (57kg) $10 with Bet365 Wednesday quaddie picks for Geelong races Geelong quadrella selections Wednesday, November 30, 2022 1-7 2-3-6-7 2-6-9-12 2-3-9-13 Investment: $128 for 100% |

Gosford racing preview & best bets | Wednesday, November 30
November 29, 2022 5:14 pm. Nathan Keven What Gosford Races Where Gosford Race Club – 4 Racecourse Rd, West Gosford NSW 2250 When Wednesday, November 30, 2022 First Race 1:25pm AEDT Visit Ladbrokes Gosford Race Club has lined up a competitive eight-race program for Wednesday afternoon with plenty of progressive gallopers on display. The rail has moved out to +3m the entire circuit and we’ll be racing on a Good 4 surface come the first race scheduled to get underway at 1:25pm AEDT. Let’s get stuck into what looks a tricky card. Best Bet: Mr Wallace Mr Wallace looks a good play in the fourth race of the program when stepping up to the 1200m for the first time this preparation. This son of Medaglia D’Oro has been unfortunate not to be free of his maiden status after two strong performances — first at Gosford on October 27 when beaten 2.5 lengths to Lovero, then again behind California Press at Hawkesbury on November 17. He found trouble in transit on both occasions when lugging in badly to be moderate to the line. The key factor on Wednesday is the noticeable lack of tempo, and from barrier one with a fitness edge on his rivals, look for jockey Tim Clark to lead on this Godolphin gelding before kicking clear turning for home. We may have to take a shorter price, but he looks too good for this lot and hopefully he can chalk up his first career win. Best Bet Race 4 – Godolphin silks#3 Mr Wallace (1) 4yo Gelding | T: James Cummings | J: Tim Clark (57.5kg) $2.25 with Bet365 Next Best: Fashion Legend We look to be getting a great price in the second race on the card with Fashion Legend. This Richard & Will Freedman-trained gelding was by no means disgraced first-up at Hawkesbury on November 17 when defeated by a very smart three-year-old in Shadow Vampire, who went on to frank the form by winning again since. Fashion Legend was back in the field and hit the line very strongly in that performance, and he should relish getting up to the 1200m on Wednesday at Gosford. We get experienced hoop Kerrin McEvoy on board and he should be looking to slot in closer to the speed than last time out, hopefully finding the back of likely leader and race favourite My Eloise before finding his best late to score. Next Best Race 2 – Fashion Legend silks#1 Fashion Legend (2) 3yo Gelding | T: Richard & Will Freedman | J: Kerrin McEvoy (58kg) $4 with Neds Best Value: Oakfield Paperbark In a race full of unknown quantities, we’re keen to be with Oakfield Paperbark as our best each-way bet of the program. His run first-up behind Lucky Variety was enormous from last, turning for home to hit the frame in what looked about five strides. He trailed the eventual winner turning for home but was outclassed by what was a big maiden test at this track on November 8. He looks the wrong price in a race that has so many first starters and we’re happy be siding with a horse that has plenty of race experience now. Tom Sherry takes the reins for the Kristen Buchanan stable and should find a midfield spot with some cover. If he can reproduce that last-start performance, the $6.50 on offer with online bookies looks a cracking bet. Best Value Race 7 – Oakfield Paperbark silks#9 Oakfield Paperbark (4) 4yo Mare | T: Kristen Buchanan | J: Tom Sherry (57kg) $6.50 with Palmerbet Thursday quaddie tips for Gosford races Gosford quadrella selections Thursday, December 1, 2022 1-2-6-8 1-2-4-5-8 3-4-9 1-5-9-10 Investment: $240 for 100% |

Happy Valley racing tips & HK quaddie | Wednesday, November 30
November 29, 2022 6:16 pm. Nathan Keven What Happy Valley Races Where Happy Valley Racecourse – Wong Nai Chung Rd, Happy Valley, Hong Kong When Wednesday, November 30, 2022 First Race 7:15pm HKT (10:15pm AEDT) Visit Ladbrokes Hong Kong racing continues at Happy Valley on Wednesday night with an eight-race program scheduled to take place under lights. Zac Purton looks to bounce from his five-timer at Sha Tin with another excellent book of rides, although it does look a very competitive card compared to his comprehensive book on Sunday. We’re racing on the C+3 on Wednesday, which traditionally means you should be looking to favour on-speed horses throughout the card; however, in some races you may find they burn themselves early on, which can bring some backmarkers into play. The first race is scheduled to get underway at 7:15pm HKT (10:15pm AEDT). Best Bet: Rattan Kingdom Rattan Kingdom will be looking to finally break his maiden status in this 1200m contest to open the Happy Valley quaddie. He comes here third-up for the newly appointed Hong Kong trainer Jamie Richards and looks to be prepared perfectly to strike with Zac Purton aboard yet again. He was on Rattan Kingdom last start at Happy Valley on November 9 and was beaten by the barrier when getting too far back against Island Sunshine. He just couldn’t get the economical run from barrier 11 that time, but with barrier four on Wednesday night we should see this gelding by Per Incanto find a prominent spot with Purton kicking up to find the one-by-one. If he does lob in that spot, he looks very hard to beat with plenty of tempo in this race with the likes of Starry Night, Multimore and Loriz all likely to be kicking up on the outside. Best Bet Race 5 – Rattan Kingdom#9 Rattan Kingdom (4) 5yo Gelding | T: Jamie Richards | J: Zac Purton (55.5kg) $2.05 with Neds Next Best: Comet Splendido We’re happy to wait for the last race of the card for our next best of the evening with the ever-consistent Comet Splendido. He’s looking for his second win of the campaign but is yet to miss the frame with three minor placings to his name, after another credible effort last start over the 1650m on November 16 when beaten just less than a length to Winning Dragon. His win prior to that was strong as well, getting back well out of his ground before powering to the line to score on October 12. His last start was an indicator he’s ready to step back up to the 1800m, and with the booking of gun apprentice Angus Chung and a very welcome 4.5kg claim, he looks perfectly weighted in this field. From barrier one, Chung has plenty of options and could even elect to lead if they go slow enough. Provided they crawl early, he could give them something to chase. Next Best Race 8 – Comet Splendido#5 Comet Splendido (1) 4yo Gelding | T: Danny Shum | J: Angus Chung (59kg) $4.80 with Bet365 Best Value: California Deeply It’s time to find a horse that doesn’t want to lead. It’ll be a charge for the front in the sixth with Super Axiom, Super Commander, Magic Phoenix and many more looking to lamplight, so it only makes sense to find one that should be set-up to take out some tiring horses. California Deeply should be that horse after a terrific effort first-up against race rival and likely favourite Heroic Master on November 9. He was last turning for home and motored to the line under retained jockey Matthew Chadwick on that occasion, and with some luck from barrier 11 he’ll be looking to do something similar over the 1000m here. Normally, the gate would be a dealbreaker, but with Heroic Master and Zac Purton drawn inside, we’ll hope Chadwick can just get on the back of the race favourite, find some cover and be powering over the top of them all late. We should be getting a good price with online Bookmakers on his pattern, so he looks a cracking each-way play. Best Value Race 6 – California Deeply silks#10 California Deeply (11) 3yo Gelding | T: Tony Cruz | J: Matthew Chadwick (54kg) $13 with Unibet HK quaddie tips for Happy Valley races Happy Valley quadrella selections Wednesday, November 30, 2022 1-4-6-9 2-3-10-11 3-8-9-10-11 5-6-10 Investment: $240 for 100% |

Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks
Remington Park - Race #3 Picks Notes #2 Chuy Garza Y. G. He got over the top in that fifth career start, and I like that he showed a bit of ability to finish from just off the splits in that one. He's quick enough to be on the splits early, but now we know he can press a touch if needed. #7 Connors Outlaw He's probably the one to beat here off the decent stakes try last time out, and he should be involved from the start while prompting the pace from the outside. #4 Cimarron Sand He needs much better here, but he moved up nicely in that second career start and could conceivably have another step forward in him here. Price for a small piece? Race Summary Chuy Garza Y. G. has really reliable form in a race that is somewhat lacking it, and he should be able to find a great spot right up on the early action. Would be thrilled to have something like the 9/2 ML price. Remington Park - Race #4 Picks Notes #9 La Queena She drops in for a tag after taking a big step back in that second career start, but something like her debut would keep her in the frame with these, and the barn does good work with this type. #1 Camden's Beauty She makes a good bit of sense in here after a couple decent turf tries, and I think this elongated one-turn trip might be right up her alley. Chance to be tough here. #3 Ms. Morena She has had a dozen chances without a ton of excuses along the way, but her form maybe isn't quite as dark as it appears sometimes, as most of the flat races on her page came with better special weight groups. Guessing she'll find at least one or two of these too tough, but I think she's got some underneath appeal at a price. Race Summary La Queena and Camden's Beauty both get down with maiden claiming company for the first time, but the former should offer a bit better price coming off the flat effort and may come calling late. Remington Park - Race #8 Picks Notes #7 Smart Okie She might have some upside here while dropping out of stakes company and cutting back around one turn. She has some tables to turn in here, but the price should be right, and I think she's better than we've seen in the last two. #2 Tom's Girl She turned in a couple of okay stakes tries in those last two starts, and I think she's going to appreciate getting back around one turn for this one. Wouldn't be a surprise. #5 Artistic Vision She didn't bring much of an effort in the stakes try at second asking, finishing behind both of the other listed players in here, but she has some bounce-back potential in a spot like this. Race Summary Wouldn't blame you for landing most places in this one, as there are a handful with some previous form that makes them interesting, including Smart Okie — she should be a good price here while turning back. |

Frank Carulli's Daily Picks
Penn National - Race #2 Picks Notes #2 JUST ADD MOONLIGHT (5-1) Troubled third, followed with romp, speed to repeat, good value play. #1 MORE RANSOM (9-2) Hit board in 4 of 6, worked ok locally for first try on conventional dirt. #5 DOWSER (2-1) Late surge into photo-finish view against 4-to-5 winner two starts back. Race Summary JUST ADD MOONLIGHT couldn’t overcome early trouble two starts back in a race won by next-out repeater Pegasus in Flight ($90k earner), but she responded with a 12-length maiden victory. She returns on similar rest and can carry her speed well despite the step up in class. Bet to win and place. Penn National - Race #4 Picks Notes #6 SPIN CYCLE (6-1) Still going strong at age 9, should make run at joining $300k Club. #9 E T’S CANDYMAN (2-1) Wired field in longer sprints recently to conquer nw/2 and nw/3 conditions. #8 ONE NINER TANGO (6-1) Shipped in for Lake and ran his best race of the year to win on class drop. Race Summary SPIN CYCLE, a 13-race winner facing mostly nw/4 types, won twice since September and finished behind hard-hitting Colour Guard (40/10-10-8, $242k) twice. Conner fits him well, so expect another good effort at a good price. Bet to win and place. Penn National - Race #7 Picks Notes #8 BEA BEA KAZ (9-2) Series of recent gate workouts to get ready for her debut, can win at first asking. #7 FOXY JUNIOR (7-2) Dueled inside of winner on turn, held second in improved second-out try. #2 MORGANS COVE (5-2) Handled rise to MSW ranks with another wide run to finish second. Race Summary BEA BEA KAZ showed a steady workout tab for her debut and her dam, Bea Bea, finished second in the first two starts of her career in MSW company at Belmont Park. She meets several in-form rivals and will need to come out running to prevail. Play an 8-ALL exacta. |

PURCHASE Always check program numbers. Odds shown are morning line odds. Race 3 - Claiming - 6.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $14500 Class Rating: 70 FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON THREE RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 122 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF THREE RACES ALLOWED 2 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000, IF FOR $4,500, ALLOWED 2 LBS. RECOMMENDED CHOICES The Walker Group Picks # 7 BET THE QUEEN 4/1 # 2 DANZATALE 3/1 # 9 AT THE HALF 8/1 BET THE QUEEN is my choice. Looks formidable for the conditions of this affair today, showing solid numbers in dirt sprint races lately. Could provide positive profits based on solid recent speed figures with an average of 62. Going in a dirt sprint race gives this filly a very good shot. DANZATALE - Will make a strong outing versus this lot. Has to be carefully examined here on the basis of the figures in the speed section alone. AT THE HALF - The trainer wheels this horse back soon to race again. |

PURCHASE Bar Penn National - Race #8 - Post: 9:10pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $13,600 Class Rating: 68 Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar #4 SOULSTONE (ML=5/1) SOULSTONE - My handicapping intuition tells me to watch out for this animal in this event Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SEARCH (ML=3/1), #1 CEETA (ML=7/2), #7 MS KAYS COWGIRL (ML=4/1), SEARCH - Hasn't been getting close at all lately. CEETA - Finished second in her most recent race with a quite unimpressive speed figure. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this group. MS KAYS COWGIRL - Displayed clues of physical problems in the event on November 18th at Penn National. STRAIGHT WAGERS: Play #4 SOULSTONE to win if you can get odds of 1/1 or more EXACTA WAGERS: Pass TRIFECTA WAGERS: Pass SUPERFECTA WAGERS: Pass |

PURCHASE Always check program numbers. Odds shown are morning line odds. Race 7 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $9900 Class Rating: 75 FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 121 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $4,500. RECOMMENDED CHOICES The Walker Group Picks # 2 STILLWATER BROWN 3/1 # 8 SYZSLAK 5/1 # 6 THIRSTY KISS 4/1 STILLWATER BROWN is my choice. Should keep the impressive string of finish positions intact this time out. Must be given consideration based on the quite good speed figure earned in the last competition. SYZSLAK - Will more than likely be one of the leaders of the pack going into the halfway point of the race. I like Mawing on this gelding to give him a strong chance to hit the wire first. THIRSTY KISS - Must be considered based on the strong speed rating garnered in the last affair. |

PURCHASE Bar Zia Park - Race #7 - Post: 2:42pm - Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $17,500 Class Rating: 69 Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar #9 DOS REALES (ML=6/1) #7 ABSTRACT KAT (ML=5/1) #2 BOB'SALLWICKED (ML=12/1) DOS REALES - Valdez-Cabral has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to be wary of the longer priced half. Just missed hitting the board on September 15th at Albuquerque. With decent morning odds right here, he has my interest. A repeat of that latest race on September 15th where he earned a fig of 65 looks high enough to score in this event. ABSTRACT KAT - The rider and trainer combination here have a high win pct when they team up. Looking like a potential overlay right here in this race at morning odds of 5/1. Finished fifth in last race at Zia Park but was close at the finish. BOB'SALLWICKED - You always have to be on the prowl for revenue generating rider/handler combinations; we have one right here. Vulnerable Contenders: #4 C D POLDARC (ML=5/2), #5 SPINNING RED (ML=7/2), #1 CHIPPSTER (ML=6/1), C D POLDARC - Difficult to put your dough on the win end of any horse that finishes second and third as regularly as this thoroughbred does. SPINNING RED - I find it hard to wager on this less than sharp equine in today's event. Make him show you something in a short distance race before you bet on him in a race of 6 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this mount will make a winning move today. That last speed figure was common when compared with today's class rating. CHIPPSTER - You always figure that this animal has a shot to win, but he falls short regularly. Should have at least hit the board in the last two months in a sprint race to be any kind of value at minimal odds in a sprint. STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #9 DOS REALES to win if we can get at least 3/1 odds EXACTA WAGERS: Box [2,7,9] TRIFECTA WAGERS: Box [2,7,9] Total Cost: $6 SUPERFECTA WAGERS: Pass |
