May Dan rest in peace.

It is always more sad to know that one had to leave us too soon. I didn't know him but it sounds like he was a special kind man. Condolences to his family and friends.

I'm really saddened to hear this news, my families thoughts and prayers are with you Eric. Alot of you know that my father has been fighting cancer for awhile now as well. I just found out last night that the doctors only give him about two weeks to live. So I share your pain Eric, I know how much you must be hurting right now. Take Care.

Todd,

My dad is also going through it. It’s tough. And Eric also recently lost his mom. When it rains it pours.

I will be thinking of you and your dad as well and I hope you get through it. Thoughts and prayers with you.

On a more positive note: I think it’s just great to see all the replies and concern the members have shown in this thread. I think it says a lot for the type of person Dan was that all these people (strangers in real life) have expressed their feelings this way. When Eric reads through this – hopefully it will give him a quick smile!

Mudville first you lost your mom and now your dad. Both so young and close together. Our hearts ache for you and your family.

Dan started here at Cappers Mall the same month as I did. Had lots of good banter and loved seeing those big parlays. I know the whole Mall celebrated with Dan when he hit one of those monsters. You could feel the pride and satisfaction across the computer!
I remember typing the "Ramblin Man" song in one of his threads and he got quite a laugh over that.

For those who have the time a capper here named Sweets paid a real nice tribute to Dan back in august 2005. Sweets had a thread titled "Hall Of Capper" that was for Ramblin Man. You can find the thread by typing Sweets into the search feature and looking back to August 2005. Great post.

I will sure miss you Dan

RIP, Dan. Mudville, God speed to you and your family. The struggles you are going thru will make you a lot stronger person. Reflect on all the good around you and remember that life is grand no matter how long you live. While he may have lived a short life it was heart felt to many. God Bless you at this trying time.

I'm very sad to hear about the news. Dan was a positive force here at CM and had the respect of everyone. We all just lost a GREAT man in Ramblin' Dan.

Rest In Peace Sgt. Maxim.

This thread is a feel-good read. Its amazing how many people Dan touched through here. And by Pondsman's post, sounds like he was every it of the nice guy in real life as we knew here.

times like this put life into perspective. even thought i will never meet 99% of you, there is still an understood respect/love. no family gets along 100%, and 100% of us do not get along. but there is still alot of love here.

Wow

Wow! What can I say.

Words cannot explain how much these posts have meant to me over these past few days. I knew Dad had some friends at Cappers, but over 120 posts is absolutely amazing. I have read every one of them multiple times and the things that stick out the most are that Rambler would have done the same for every one these members.
There are some names I recognize and some I don't but either way I feel part of the Cappers family. I don't gamble but always came in to see what craziness my Dad would post for parlays. He was the parlay man.
He won some, lost more but never conceded and that is how he went out. He fought until the end yet was always still concerned about others.
He considered Cappers a big family to him and he regretted not being active at the end. He proudly wore his Cappers Mall shirt and spoke of some members until the end.
I will continue to do so as well. I may not post parlays or my picks for the night, but will still come into various forums and continue reading some fabulous opinions and crazy bantering and make a few posts myself.
Thank You Cappers Mall. Thanks for being here for my family and most of all my Dad over these past few years.
Peace
