Basically this whole thing is a non-story.

In the long run the guy isn't winning or losing these bets. Idiots like Darren Rovell can't get enough of it because he thinks this is sports gambling history.

I understand this guy is loved because of his generosity, but there is also no denying he's a huge attention whore, loves the camera, and loves everybody knowing about these bets.

He can't buy this kind of advertising for the money hes spent. This is a bargain. His place was packed last weekend. You couldn't find a place to park. You're right NYK it's really a non story. He'll break about even if the Astros win and maybe make a million or two because of the huge mark ups on mattresses if they lose. These bets are all just a hedge against losses on stuff he'll give away if the stros win

Besides the above bet he also had -144 at a different shop (for $14,400)

He selected “Action” ... So his wagers did not void, but the odds adjusted.

He still has $312,400 on the line tonight, it’s now to win $133,070, the equivalent of (-236)

do a lot of local shops do this? I am pretty sure at 5dimes if you bet "action" at -144 you are locked in at that price? i may be wrong though

In this situation books have the power to do it ... Circa was very reasonable with this adjusted price.

thanks. i wouldn't say -236 is very reasonable though, at least they didn't juice it over -240.

The line for me right now is -210.. down from about -220, still a bit high

Game 7

Scarlet Pearl Casino

Houston -135 ... $700,000 to win $518,518

And ...

$336,000 was spread between two books — Circa Sportsbook took $270,000 of it and the Rio took the remaining $66,000

The Circa wager was at -135 (profit $200,000)

It's unsure on the odds for the other wager, but it’s in the same vicinity, which would equate to a ~$50,000 profit on the $66,000 investment

Astros win, he wins $20m

Astros lose, customers pay him $20m for their merchandise

The only people gambling are those who made a purchase they would not have made, gambling on the fact that they will get free furniture

Thousands and thousands of people who risked a lot, and not one getting any attention ... Only person getting the attention is the guy who breaks even

The story that should be getting the attention is him taking a group of 30 kids from the Sunshine Kids (a charity dedicated to children with cancer) to tonight's Game 7. That's news.

Not constant updates of someone using gambling to protect another investment.
