Of 117 seasons in Yankees history, this is only the 26th in which they were under .500 through 12 games.

Among them are the championship teams from ...

1952 (5-7)
1977 (4-8)
1978 (5-7)

Yankees have scored first in 10 of their 12 games this season, but are only 4-6 when doing so.

They were 72-17 when scoring first in 2018.

He has absolutely zero interest playing. I don't believe any of these fake injuries he supposedly has

He's just sitting back & cashing checks ... Doesn't really matter, he sucks

Betances will have a cortisone injection Saturday ... He’ll be down for 3 weeks with no activity, so his MLB timetable is 6 to 7 weeks.

Tonight was the Yankees' 7th loss with a blown lead

Last season, they didn't lose their 7th game with a blown lead until June 13

Yankees allow one hit in a game for the first time since Sept. 9, 2017 at Rangers.

They allow one hit in a game at Yankee Stadium for the first time since Sept. 22, 2014 vs Orioles.

1st time they've allowed 1 hit or fewer and no walks in a game at Yankee Stadium since July 18, 1999 (David Cone No-Hitter)

Yankees lose their first 3 home series for the first time since 1982 (CHW, DET, CAL)

They have had a lead in 8 of their 9 losses (ties KC for the most blown-lead losses in the majors) ... Last season, the Yankees didn't lose their eighth game with a blown lead until June 24

At this rate, the Yankees won’t be able to field a team soon.

Greg Bird became the latest casualty Tuesday, placed on the 10-day injured list with a left plantar fascia tear. He’ll be replaced by Mike Ford, who’s been hot at the plate with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but is not considered a prospect.

To make room for the 26-year-old Ford on the 40-man roster, Jacoby Ellsbury was moved to the 60-day IL, also with plantar fasciitis.

Incredibly, Bird is the 13th Yankee to head to the IL this season through just 15 games.

And while most plantar fascia injuries aren’t especially serious, Ellsbury has had trouble coming back from his — and the injury-prone Bird has had plenty of foot- and ankle-related problems.

Updated ...

Miguel Andujar (shoulder)
Dellin Betances (shoulder)
Greg Bird (foot)
Jacoby Ellsbury (hip surgery)
Didi Gregorius (Tommy John surgery)
Ben Heller (Tommy John surgery)
Aaron Hicks (back)
Jordan Montgomery (Tommy John surgery)
Gary Sanchez (calf)
Luis Severino (shoulder)
Giancarlo Stanton (biceps)
Troy Tulowitzki (calf)

Bird has not hit much at all this year (57 wRC+) or the last three years for the matter (80 wRC+ from 2017-19)

Ford is a local guy from Belle Mead, New Jersey, and signed with the Yankees as an undrafted free agent out of Princeton back in 2013. He is hitting .410/.467/.897 (235 wRC+) with more extra-base hits (four doubles, five homers) than strikeouts (seven) in ten games with the RailRiders this year. It’s also his third season at the level, so take the numbers with a grain of salt.

Like Bird, Ford is a left-handed hitting bat-only first baseman. He can’t play other positions and isn’t especially nimble around the bag

The Yankees are replacing Greg Bird with an older and unproven version of Greg Bird

Chris Davis only trails Bird by two hits on the year and has 7 more RBIs

Let that sink in

Blake Snell placed on 10 day IL with fractured fourth right toe. Retro to Sunday. Anticipated to miss one start.

He was getting out of the shower Sunday night, decided then to move a decorative stand in the bathroom that he didn’t realize was in 2 parts, and as he lifted it the bottom piece, made of granite, fell on his right foot.

The Yankees, 17-13, remain winless this season against teams with a current winning record

They lose 3-2 to the D-backs, and are now 0-5 against teams that are .500 or better

Their next 10 games are against Twins (17-10), Mariners (18-14) and Rays (19-9)

Tulowitzki (calf) started a rehab game with Class A Tampa tonight. He singled in the first inning and was pulled ... He was hit by a pitch in the leg yesterday yet finished the game

To think that Cashman actually thought they’d get something out of him was a joke
