With that said even if we didn't look at wins and losses nobody would have a problem if Scherzer, Nola or DeGrom won.

PEACE
all the stats matter, its just a question of how much

I would think RBIs matter significantly, as youre getting a hit when it matters to knock a run in

Scoring runs I suppose just means youe on base more often or opportunely, should be weighed much less

lol..

you cant control that. He has pitched like a Cy Young winner. Not his fault he dosent get any run support.

One again ill ponit to King Felix winning it with a 13-12 record do there is precedence

You can point out anything you want. You may not think it matters but I do, Roma does, and the 2 guys who do the Cy Young predictor, Bill James & Rob Neyer do.

Sooooo whenever it benefits your argument. "Sale was on a shithole team" so that was his excuse. Now deGrom has to knock in 5 runs every time her pitches?

No it means he better not have a losing record. You keep pointing to King Felix and his (13-12) record but that is not the norm with the Cy Young award, it is the exception and it has happened ONCE. If he is .500 or has a losing record, it will be tough to win IMO, no matter how good his other numbers are.

Just like you say with Sale, I think deGrom is a great pitcher, but nobody has ever won the award with a .500 or losing record. Maybe he is the 1st but it will be a very close vote even if he is, just because of his record, whether he controls it or not. The voters look at it.

Cubs TV broadcasters say deGrom. I would accept their opinion over Roma's , especially on baseball

You're welcome,

but went by your words, not my eyes reading it.

The broadcasters discussed not just his record, but defense and offense that would separate him from others.

But, if Lester doesn't get it, screw it haha

Correct bob, Roma said he does think wins and losses matter to voters but again, he never said who he thought would win.

Well, I guess we can agree to disagree. Nobody said it was the only thing that mattered but it is a factor.

The question will be, are the numbers for Scherzer & Nola close enough for their record to make a difference and win it? That will be what they have to decide when they look at everything.

fyi my comment was very general, that all stats matter even if some matter more than others, not just to cy young voters but in general

It was actually a comment about RBIs that I replied to

I have no idea who deserves the cy young

deGrom has 9 starts of 6+ IP while allowing 1 run or fewer without getting the win.

Those are the most such starts over an entire season in MLB history.
