HISTORIC STREAKS: Jacob deGrom has held opponents to three runs or less in 25 straight starts, tied for the longest singleseason streak in major league history with the Cubs' Leslie “King” Cole in 1910...Research courtesy of Elias...DeGrom has hurled 20 straight quality starts, the longest active streak in the majors and the longest single-season streak in team history (Tom Seaver had 19 straight quality starts in 1973).

TOUGH LUCK: Jacob deGrom has nine starts of 6.0 or more innings while allowing one run or fewer without getting the win... Those are the most such starts over a single season in major league history.

LEADERBOARD: DeGrom leads the majors in ERA (1.68)… According to FanGraphs, he leads major league pitchers in WAR (7.3) and HR/9 (0.43) and leads the NL in FIP (2.09) and ERA+ (221)...He is second in the NL and fourth in the majors in strikeouts (230), second in the NL with a 5.48 K/BB rate, leads in the NL with a .289 opponent’s slugging percentage and is first with a opponent's .544 OPS.

CREAM RISES: DeGrom has the lowest ERA (1.34 ERA, 18 earned runs/121.1 innings) in the majors against teams currently with a .500 record or better this season (min. 70.0 innings)…He has thrown the most innings of any pitcher this season vs. teams with a .500 or better record.

A SEASON FOR THE AGES: DeGrom's 1.68 ERA would be the second-lowest singleseason mark since 1996 (behind Zack Greinke's 2015 1.66 ERA)...The last Mets pitcher with a lower ERA in a season was Dwight Gooden, whose 1.53 ERA in 1985 stands as the lowest in franchise history...Has fanned 31.3 percent of the hitters he's faced this season, on pace to be the second-highest rate in Mets history (Gooden, 31.4 percent, 1984)...Has allowed more than three runs only once this season, April 9 at Miami (four runs) and has allowed one or no runs 16 times this season, the most among NL starters.

IN deCITI: Owns a 1.59 ERA (17 earned runs/96.0 innings) in 14 starts at Citi Field this season...That is the lowest home ERA in the NL among qualified pitchers...Has a 2.17 ERA (105 earned runs/435.0 innings) in 67-career starts at home, the second-lowest home ERA since 2014 behind Clayton Kershaw (1.93) and the lowest home ERA in franchise history (min 400 IP).

No worries GG - he's a shoo-in...no way in hell Scherzer wins the award this year...unless DeGrom gives up 10+ runs (a game) in his last 4 starts of the year, the Cy Young is his, and only his IMHO!

Barring a catastrophe he has a great shot, but can't ever use the term " shoo-in" when it comes to MLB voting. Honestly could see him dominate the rest of the way and still get passed over because some dopes will put too much value in W/L.

I hear you Knight, however, I read recently that modern voters have demonstrated an increased willingness to look past wins and losses...that said, I can only think of one pitcher, King Felix, winning the Award in 2010 with a not so great 13-12 record (2.27 ERA), he was lights out that year, otherwise all other pitchers have had pretty good wins to losses ratio. We shall see!...oh, I also forgot Aaron Nola.

Red Sox running out their "B" lineup today. Should be another nice day for DeGrom.

Under First 5 Innings doesn't cash dropping the mark to 22-4 in deGrom's last 26 starts
