Week 11

I hate to see and say it, but weíre already at week 11 of CFB.

Iím starting with three road dogs. Purdue (+2.5) is down to their third string QB but I thought he looked good in relief last week. All I need is 14 points from PUís offense and I cover since NW canít seem to find the end zone.

Iowa (+9.5) is still in the Big10 West hunt but can they control JT. Wisconsinís O line has been suspect as of late and Iowaís D looks pretty solid. Give me Iowa in this one.

Kansas State (+7) is peeking at the right time and they have a great shot to beat Texas in Austin. Texas seems a bit lost as of late and they might struggle at home against a solid KSU team.

Looking at a few more games. Good luck!

Week 11 Adds

Iím going against my season total plays by taking Oklahoma (-14.5) against Iowa State. Iím playing this because OU needs a big win against a quality opponent to improve their ranking.

Baylor (-2.5) needs a big W this week to bolster their ranking in the polls. TCU is falling apart at the seams and they are ripe for the taking.

Finally, Iíll run with Minnesota (+7, -120) at home against Penn State. I think this is Minnesotaís once in a lifetime magical run and I wish them the best in finishing out the year.

Bonus pick - Iíll take Idle University (-6.5) against Nebraska. This may be the last chance for a W but Idleís 7th string QB will tear apart NUís horrid secondary.

Summary:
Purdue +2.5
Iowa +9.5
Kansas State +7
Oklahoma -14.5
Baylor-2.5
Minnesota +7
Idle U -6.5

Week 11 Summary

I was finally able to get over the hump and have a good weekend. There was a bevy of good games over the weekend and congratulations to Minnesota for continuing their magical run. Hopefully the upcoming weekend will be as good as the last. I hope everyone at the Mall had a positive weekend.

Big 10: 3-0
Big 12: 2-1

Week 12

Iím starting out with NU/WI under 51. The weather will be nice on Saturday but I canít see NU scoring more than 14 points against WIís D. I look for a barrage of running which keeps the clock rolling.

I think Minnesotaís miracle season comes crashing to a haunt this weekend. Iowa (-3) is too good at home to take MN off a big W last weekend.

Navy (+7) is getting no respect. Notre Dame is not going to stop Navyís rushing attack.

Speaking of no respect, Baylor (+10) has not won convincingly as the pollsters would like but they have won all their games. I think this gives them the added motivation they need to pull off the W this week.

Indiana (+14.5) is looking solid this year. Sure, Penn State is coming off a road loss and canít afford to lose another game but Iím not expecting them to lose.

Explain to me why a team like Northwestern is favored by 40.5 when they havenít scored 40 points in the last month. U Mass is tied with Akron for the worst team in decades but I canít see NW scoring 41 points. Iíll take U Mass at +40.5

Finally Iíll take Ks/Ok to go over the posted total of 67.5. Kansas has been able to get the offense going this year and Oklahoma is always good for +40 points.

Week 12 Summary
NU/WI under 51
Iowa -3
Navy +7
Baylor +10
Indiana +14.5
U Mass +40.5
KS/OK over 67.5

Good luck with whomever you take this weekend.

Week 12 Summary

I wasnít expecting Navy to get torpedoed in South Bend but the was a bad pick. I won with Baylor but they screwed me on my preseason bet of OK under 10.5 wins. That hurt. Iowa is darned tough at home and the teams getting no respect yes well. Still a winning weekend and on to week 13.

Big 10: 2-1
Big 12: 1-1
Other: 1-1
Weekly total: 4-3
Season total: 37-32

Week 13 coming tonight

Week 13

Well, Iím going against the odds and taking Penn State (+18) against Ohio State. I look for a back door cover more than I do a good, close game.

Nebraska (-4) has to play one good game, right? This is their last chance for a W.

Northwestern is coming off their big offensive explosion last week and will get put back in their place this week against Minnesota (-13). I donít like going against home dogs but itís NW and they stink.

San Jose State (-6.5) should easily cover this line against UNLV. Vegas is a bad team.

I think Iowa will have a letdown against Illinois (+15.5) this week. Iowa doesnít score or allow many points and I think this is too many points to lay in a low scoring game.

Finally, Iím just playing the odds by taking Ok State (-7) against West Virginia. Ok State is 8-2 ATS so Iím taking a shot with OKS.

Week 13 Summary
Penn State +18
Nebraska -4
Minnesota-13
San Jose State -6.5
Illinois +15.5
Oklahoma State -7

As always, good luck whomever you bet.

Week 13 Summary

Nebraska finally decided to play some football and easily covered the spread against a bad Maryland team. The rest of the Big 10 picks went well and Ok State was a push. Unfortunately UNLV played a great game for my only loss.

Rivalry week is a tough one as teams that have sucked all year show up and play their butts off against their main rival. There is a lot of studying to do before posting.

Big 10: 4-0
Big 12: 0-0-1
Other: 0-1
Weekly total: 4-1-1
Season total: 41-33-1

Week 14 coming soon.

Week 14

Thanks Fat-Freddie. I hope we all knock the stuffing out of the books this weekend.

Iím going to start with the Fightiní Frankies of Ohio (-27.5) as they look for win number 6 to make a bowl game. I think Akron blew their wad last week and will struggle to score 10 points.

Iím taking Illinois (-9.5) before the points go up. Illinois played Iowa tough on the road last week and I think they destroy a hapless Northwestern team this week. You have to Ďloveí what Lovie is doing this year and I donít see a reason to go against them in the final week.

The weather is supposed to go to hell in the Plains and Midwest this weekend so I may play a few unders as we get closer to game time. Snow and rain are not the issue but the wind is supposed to be blowing 30-40 mph in a lot of areas so there may be value to be had on some totals and second half plays.

More to come.

Week 14 Summary (so far)
Ohio -27.5
Illinois -9.5

Week 14 Adds

The Illinois spread is going the opposite way And is down to Illinois -8. Ugh

The weather on Friday is supposed to be horrid in Lincoln and Iíll take the under (44.5) in a game matching two run oriented offenses. I look for a good old 14-10 Big 10 slugfest.

Iím also taking the under (50) in the Iron Bowl. New QB for Alabama and Auburn has a stellar defense. No way Bo Nix will lead Auburn to more than 17 points, heís not that good. I canít talk my way out of the under.

Give me the home team in Bedlam Saturday night. Oklahoma State (+13) knows they can keep Oklahoma out of the playoff and that gives them all the motivation they need.

Baylor (-14) should have all the motivation they need and should blow out Kansas.

Finally, give me Kansas State (+5.5) at home against Iowa State. It will be a tough game but Iíll take the home team getting points against the heart attack kids of ISU.

Week 14 summary
Ohio -27.5 W
Illinois -9.5 (-8 now)
Nebraska/Iowa under 44.5
Alabama/Auburn under 50
Oklahoma State +13
Baylor -14
Kansas State +5.5

Good luck on rivalry week and Happy Thanksgiving

Week 14 Summary

At least I didnít have any picks that came down to the wire this week. The losers lost big and the winners won big.

Big 12: 2-1

Weekly total: 3-4
Season total: 44-37-1

Week 15 Championship Games

The Pac 12 championship game features two teams with stellar defenses. Utah is third in the nation in points allowed at 11.3 ppg and Oregon is tenth, allowing just 15.8 ppg. I think points will be a premium so Iím taking under 46 on Friday night.

I think FAU (-7.5) will handle UAB with ease in the Conference USA championship. Itís a home game and quite possibly Lane Kiffinís second to the last (or last) game coaching the Owls before he moves to a Power 5 school.

The suspension of Georgiaís top receiver for the first half of the SEC championship will hurt Frommís ability to move the ball against the LSU defense. Therefore, Iím taking LSU (-4) in the first half. I canít see Georgia scoring more than 7 points in the first half.

Finally, Iím taking Ohio State (-16.5) in the Big 10 championship game. Iíve went against OSU a couple times this year so Iíll hop on the bandwagon in their playoff tuneup.

Week 15 summary:
Utah under 46
FAU -7.5
LSU -4 first half
Ohio State -16.5

Good luck to all
