Help with preseason prep

Recently bought Athlons college football magazine at a book store. Great information in there. Any advice on what to look out for as I prepare for the season and how to tie it in to week 1 games?

Returning Starting Linemen

The folklore which was passed down to me was that the best way to predict the following season for college football ran thus:

Returning Starting Linemen:

South of 50%, very bad, north of 85-90%, very good.

In pro football you were to look at the rosters and count the players, especially linemen, who were returning and in their third and fourth season, that was when you could expect their peak performance.

That was what those books were most valued for.

Be careful of huge favorites that have very important week 2 games as the coaches will tend to pull starters early and run vanilla offenses. Case in point this year.....Clemson plays Ga Tech and Clemson is favored by 36. Clemson plays Texas A&M in week 2. I don't think Dabo welcomes the new Ga Tech coach into the ACC with a thrashing. I am taking the points but that is just my opinion.
