That Number 9 AGAIN......

Uncanny.....so many teams lose S/U when they are favored by 9 or 9 .5

yesterday ....arkansas, usc , and alabama..all favored by 9 or 9.5

all lost s/u

it happens alot in football and basketball...pros and college

So true. Also notice +2 & 2.5, +6 & 6.5. If the oddsmaker posts a number directly under a "popular" football score your average Joe says "oh they only need to win by 3 or 7 or 10," and he bets the favorite.

Years and years ago one year 10.5 was like this. It doesn't last forever but it does seem like some of these numbers get streaky

I checked with bet labs

Since 2005...

9.5 is the most profitable number in terms of betting a dog straight up and on ROI

DOGS GETTING 9.5 IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL ARE 48- 108 STRAIGHT UP !

THAT IS 32 % OF ALL DOGS GETTING 9.5 HAVE WON S/U !!!

Next highest rate is 10.5 point dogs ,followed by 9 point dogs

Dude that is a great question. I have many posts in here about line variance from book to book and even minute to minute and second to second. 3 different books below. It all depends on when & where an individual makes his bet.

sounds a bit like my nfl theory of the oddsmakers setting a line of 5 or 5.5 just a weird number to open a line at... last yr it had a good record of covers..and outright wins by the dog.. and a home dog is a double play...nice info.. it was even more of a diff line before the 2pt conv was allowed but with so many books now its harder because some wmay have 5 or 5.5 some 6 and so on.. probably same with the #9

but its interesting..as I look here this week I see penn st opened at -9.5 now -15....g.tech-9.5...marshall opens at-11 now -9....tcu-8.5 but may be 9 at a lot of books...col [email protected] texas san ant...again just going by my book

gl interesting stuff 151

Lightbulb

If you're interested, here's the esoteric meaning...

9 is the first square of an odd number (33). It is associated with errors and shortcomings, because it lacks the perfect number to 10 in the same units.

Integral part of chaos/order in the Universe.

Up to the individual how they want to do it .... but I would say it should be the closing number / most widely available number throughout the week... Personally..and this is just me... I didn't consider it as a play because it was between 7 - 8.5 the last 3 days

Colorado St is giving 9.5 to UTSA currently

F. Atl - 9.5 or - 10 @ Charlotte

I do think these work better in bigger more high profile games like USC last week

I remember Dallas winning as a 9.5 point dog @ Seattle last year

Not sure if the 2 no name schools above would qualify...cause lets face it... not many ppl are betting those 2 games
