John Talty (SEC insider)

"In talking to people around the SEC, there was a sense of surprise and disappointment the Big Ten made this decision today. SEC has preached patience and now sources within the league feel like they've been backed into having to follow."

The SEC has summoned all 14 athletic directors to league offices in Birmingham on Monday.

ADs will discuss how they believe the conference should proceed with fall sports ... especially football

The SEC is moving closer to a conference-only 10-game schedule.

ADs agreed on the matter Wednesday and presidents are expected to meet Thursday, though they may delay a decision until next week.

Will the ACC's decision impact how SEC presidents vote? Maybe.

If they vote for this plan, that eliminates, obviously, traditional SEC-ACC rivalries.

One source: "No one ever knows what presidents will do."

SEC presidents have adopted a plan to play a 10-game, conference-only schedule this fall.

League approved kickoff date is Sept. 26.

Particulars on the schedule (the two additional games & locations) are unclear for now.

SEC title game Dec. 19.
