Smart move

Hasn't touched any of his contract money, just living off endorsements and doesn't need to worry about any more injuries

Imo Brady ought to retire also at his age and go out at the top of his game rather than gamble than he continue to excel-not having Gronk doesn't exactly help his chances.

Before I go to dinner, do the words "difference in age" mean anything to you and/or the likely prospect of diminishing returns based on all of the champions ships he has won already, as well as the current risk/reward ratio and especially without Gronk?
There is also the increased risk of injury which is true of any player in any contact sport as they get older.

I expect Gronk to join the team in January if they're the favorite for another Super Bowl.

No doubt gronk will be in the Patriots HOF. The NFL one, IDK. I would put him there but I don't know if that is just the fan in me talking. I was really hoping he would stay 1 more year. Especially since they have literally nobody to throw to besides Edelman.

To play Devils Advocate then, lets just say that if does come back this season or even for another season(s), he recognizes WHEN/NOT IF he becomes ineffective, and that he can deal with it WHEN he is yanked from a game and/or can accept being a backup quarterback or worse.
That is all predicated of course on the concept that he is being honest with himself and believes 1) that he is not satisfied with the goals he has already achieved and 2) in his mind he honestly and realistically believes that he has the capability to win another SB this season.

I admire him for calling it quits because of his injuries, which is unlike some players who would continue to play as long as someone was willing to offer them a contract even with injuries.
I was quite surprised judging by today's salaries and contracts in sports in general and because of his and the Pats success, his net worth is a "measly" 15 million as compared to others who are worth a bit more even at his age.

Wrong

Gronkowski net worth is well over the $53 million he made from the NFL

In his 2015 memoir It’s Good to Be Gronk, he said that he has never touched a penny of the money he made from his NFL contract or signing bonus and only spends money made by marketing and endorsements.

While he only spent money made from endorsements and marketing, he surely didn’t spend all that money and likely has some of that left over.

Endorsement deals ...

Thanks for correction-that makes more sense and is a bit more logical.
Blame the source though rather than me-I was simply quoting what I believed to be an accurate source, which it was obviously not.

Didn't list probably the "biggest" endorsement of his, the Tide commercials. Even my wife knows him from those. LOL.

Champion player

Champion person

The people that dislike him for a reasonable amount of them jealousy would be one main reason

Would not be surprised if he is back at some point
