Shanahan

Dont care what happens this guys game clock management had been horrendous. Both at the half and here before the 2 min warming.

Kyle Shanahan has been oustcored 46-0 in the 4th quarter and OT in his 2 Super Bowls as an OC or head coach

People will say losing by 11 means his poor clock mgt. before halftime wouldn’t have mattered but that’s bullshit. You had a great TD drive on your last possession, got a stop on defense, and could have had the ball back with 1:45 left in the half...you have to take a timeout their and stay aggressive and look to put points on the board before halftime.

Shanahan could also be questioned for the series after KC cut it to 20-17. That was a quick three and out and used zero clock.

People put the blame on Shanahan when he was OC for the Falcons and blew the big lead against the Pats. I think he has just as much as to answer for as HC after this game.

And just so it doesn’t come off as sour grapes I had KC (super light though) but I’m always amazed at how many coaches get labeled geniuses only to mismanage the clock, timeouts, etc.

Agree Poonie. I didn't play the side so my statement was pure observation. He blew that 1st half big time. And then their drive prior to the 2 minute warning was a joke when trailing. Huddling with 2:20 left and the entire field to go. No urgency. Plenty of that loss is on him.

I agree 1000% ! When your team is averaging 6 yds per run, you run the freaking ball !

Horrible clock management just like Shanahan did as Falcon OC vs the Pats in the Super Bowl. Ok you want to pass the ball winning in the 4th qtr, then have the QB throw a 1 or 2 yd pass which is essentially a run. Its relatively safe and runs the clock. You do not have the QB drop back. He did the same thing with Matt Ryan and he got sacked too.

In the first half Deebo Samuel had 3 runs for 53 yds. KC defense could not contain him. Why did Shanahan not give him even 1 run in the 2nd half ?

Answer is that Shanahan thinks he's a genius and that he does not have to use the tried and true methods of protecting leads and winning games.

The 2 biggest win probabilities that lost in the SB were

99.7% when Atlanta lead NE 28-3

96.3% when SF lead KC 20-10 and KC had a 3rd & 15 on their end of the field and 7 minutes were left in game

The offensive play caller/genius for both losses was Kyle Shanahan

I just think labeling these guys “geniuses” has to be the most overrated term ever.

Look players have to execute but coaches are responsible for preparation, game strategy and game plan, clock management, timeouts, in game adjustments, etc. and week after week (and especially Shanahan last night) these guys shit the bed but the talking heads call them “geniuses”...OMG...to me most are just retreads going from one team to another and their best asset is longevity not brilliance.

I dont actually mind the play calling. I wouldn't have run the ball on that final drive of the 2nd half but I sure as hell wouldn't have huddled up afterword.

And I sure would have called a TO after they stopped KC in the 1st half. He coached scare or has zero confidence in Garapolo.
