Doubt anyone here would back New Zealand outright anyway.

But we are without three of our best players for this event which is very disappointing.

They will play with plenty of heart, pride and fight. But the three key players out is a dagger blow to them going deep like they did in 2002 in Indianapolis.

Big wibn for Australia last night. They are 1 of 2 teams i planned on placing a few bucks on. The other is France. I think both long shots will compete well.

I made a small play on Serbia +300, clearly this isn't the USA's best team. Pretty crazy that 4 of the 12 players on team USA are Celtics, hoping those guys all play well and don't get injured

I'm on both France and Spain because the prices aren't right. And if one makes the final nice hedge potential.

Dont waste your money wayne. I follow down under basketball very closely. This aussie team has a soft under belly that will be exposed. And they are weak in certain key areas.

What team isn't though?

They have some talent too. More than many others. I don't expect them to win at those odds and i only threw a few bucks on them for fun.

Also, the young guys getting coached up by Pop doesn't hurt either.

Lucky escape by team USA. Beat Turkey by one point in OT.

USA beats Turkey by 1 in overtime. They were 19 point favorites and Turkey gave them the game in the final 9 seconds. Turkey, up 1 had 4 free throws because of a foul and unsportsmanlike call on USA. They missed all 4 free throws and USA drove the ball in the final seconds and Middleton got fouled with 2 ticks left on the clock. He makes both FT's and Turkey misses a desperation 3. Game over and soooo lucky

EMBARRASSING!

Was just about to post this, I just found out he turned an ankle at the end of the game, apparently he stepped on someone's foot. I know this was a reason why you didn't want any Celtics in this tournament to begin with, and obviously it's a fan's worst nightmare, he say's he's okay, but I hope he doesn't play again until he feels 100%, I have to think Pop will err on the side of caution with him.

Tatum is expected to miss the next 2 games, TBH I wouldn't mind if they shut him down the rest of the way

Get them all the fuck out. Kemba too. All the other big stars said no thanks to this useless shit tournament in China. Why did all the Celtics have to go. Bullshit.

The hits keep coming, and only to Celtics of course.

Marcus Smart missed Team USA's World Cup game against Japan on Thursday with a left quad strain and will be day-to-day.

Smart missed most of Team USA's training in August with a calf strain on the same left side. He played only 11 minutes in the Americans' victory over Turkey on Tuesday

The Celtics are jinxed, ever since Hayward destroyed his leg opening night a couple years ago this team has had a ton of injuries. The good news is that the season is still far enough away that hopefully everyone's 100% when the games count for real

On the bright side, I had Australia +3.5 and France -18.5 today. Both covered and both made it out of group stage (3-0)

Respectable showing versus the Greek freak and Greece.

Going down by 6 in the end in what was a must win game.

Thomas Abercrombie had a poor world cup. For a player who has had NBA mini camp and summer league experience, you expect much more.

My Guys from France get it done. Huge run to end the game. Had them +8.5 in the game and still riding the +2400 for the tourney!

58 game tourney winning streak with NBA players over for USA. Mitchell scored 29 to lead the team but he had 0 in the 4th qtr. Rudy Gobert was great for the french!

GL with your France future. TBH, I don't even care the USA lost, just means less chance of a significant injury to a Celtic, now they can prepare for the games that really count, can't wait for the season to start
