Another TD for Russ and a win for the Wizards. He is getting closer to the record

Another triple double for Westbrook 33/19/15

Ties the Big O for all time triple doubles

The other night on SC they were calling Westbrook the best player that has not won a title and the 2nd best PG in history behind Magic.

Washington will be a scary team if they can get past play-in round.

I don't know who "they" are, but there's no way he's the second best PG of all time, I'm not even gonna get into it. That said, he's been great this season, and if there was such a thing as second half of the season MVP, he'd probably win it

He is a machine, think he very seldom takes a night off. A great modern day basketball player. Hard to find those these days.

Westbrook recorded his 10th career triple-double vs. the Pacers, his most against a single opponent. He is the fourth player in NBA history to record at least 10 triple-doubles against one team, joining Robertson, Johnson and Wilt Chamberlain.

Westbrook has a triple-double against all 30 teams not just once but multiple times. While he has never had a quadruple-double in his career, he has recorded a triple-double and at least 10 turnovers in a game five times. That is the most such games since individual turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78.

Westbrook has recorded his fourth season with 700 rebounds and 700 assists, passing Robertson for the most in NBA history.

Over his career, only Westbrook and LeBron James rank within the top 10 in points, rebounds and assists. Since his rookie season in 2008-09, his 181 triple-doubles are more than double James' second-place total over that span; Westbrook led all players on both teams in points, rebounds and assists outright 41 times in his career. That is the most such games in NBA history, according to Elias Sports Bureau research.

Step aside Big O we have a new record holder. The Wizards come up 1 point shy tonight as big dogs without Beal but Russ goes off again with 28/13/21

He breaks the triple double record in exactly 100 less games than Big O played. Amazing!

ESPN

Oscar Robertson had owned the NBA record for most career triple-doubles since 1961-62.

Now, it belongs to Russell Westbrook.

Westbrook achieved his record in the Washington Wizards' game at the Atlanta Hawks on Monday.

It had become an afterthought of when, not if, Westbrook would surpass Robertson this season with his triple-double tear. But the NBA world will celebrate Westbrook's triple-double greatness because milestones like these just don't change hands often. The last time an NBA all-time record was broken was when Ray Allen passed Reggie Miller on the all-time list for 3-pointers made in 2011. That was a decade ago!

Only two men have ever recorded 180 or more triple-doubles. The legendary Magic Johnson never got past 138, Jason Kidd retired at 107, and LeBron James is the next active player with the most triple-doubles, at 99. --Ohm Youngmisuk

Kendrick Perkins called Westbrook the 5th best PG in the history of the game this morning. He said you will never, ever, ever, see another player like him. He also said the 54 year old record that Russ broke will never be broken again

Curious

If you could take these guys in order which would you take Curry, Lillard, and Westbrook.

For me I take Westbrook 3rd which means he is 3rd just among active pgs and that doesn't include Chris Paul either.

Perkins had Curry 3 all time and Westbrook 4

As far as today goes, I would go Curry and then Westbrook based on career. If you go today in the moment I may go with a younger Lillard but not even sure about that. Just look at Westbrook’s game logs the last 3 months. Very few in the whole league have been better

The Russell Westbrook numbers are going to be off the chart when he retires. Right now he is 36th on the all time scoring list. He should pass Gary Payton and Larry Bird before this season ends. He is 12th all time in assists. He should be top 10 by the end of next season. He is 128th all time in rebounds and he moves up that list every time he plays a game, passing power forwards and centers often. He will continue to climb all 3 lists at a rapid rate and he will be a no brainer 1st ballot HOF’er and one of the best ever when all is said and done

I would put them in the same order, Curry, Lillard, Westbrook, but you can add Luka to the mix and I'd rank him ahead of all of them

Westbrook 15+ assists in 6 straight games. Only player to do that in the last 30 years

Ive never seen this guy not going 100 MPH. In college, NBA or even a pickup game.

He isn't the most skilled shooter from distance and that does him in and he takes chances with the ball so he turns it over a bit much but nobody has this guys motor.

In a day and age where guys get injured, get out of shape or just get caught by father time this guy is as unique as anyone in history.

He gives his body up fighting for rebounds. I dont think Ive ever even seen him take a play off let alone a night off.

If you can ever watch a player live it would be this guy because he will give you his heart when it comes to effort and hes never once pouted about a trade or complained about wanting to play somewhere else.

Ive never seen anyone like him in any sport. Ever. You have to respect this guy. Hes probably my favorite player in the last 20 to 30 years

Westbrook leads the NBA in assists at 11.7 per game. Nobody else in the league averages 10 or more

Another crazy stat

The Top 20 NBA leaders in rebounding
16 Centers
3 Power Forwards
1 Point Guard

6. Westbrook 11.5 per game

21/12/17 with 3 steals again tonight. He is unconscious right now and he is doing it with Beal out and a bunch of trash around him

You could easily make the case for Westbrook being the 2nd best PG this season behind Curry and easily a top 10 player this season as well

If you don't think that highly of Westbrook you are either not following the NBA that closely, not paying attention to what he is doing or simply not a fan of his.

Fantasy numbers always reflect who is having a great season in any sport. Our leagues always include many stat categories, good and bad. You could tell who had the best seasons even if you didn't watch a game just by looking at fantasy leaders. Here are a few examples in our leagues here

Last year CM League Fantasy leaders in the NFL

Overall #1 ---> NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers
#2 & #3 QB ---> Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes

Top 3 RB's
Alvin Kamara, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook

Top 3 WR's
Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs

This year in our NBA League that ends tomorrow?

Overall #1 ---> NBA MVP Nikola Jokic 45 ppg
t-2. Russell Westbrook 44
t-2. Giannis Antetokounmpo 44
4. James Harden 43
t-5. Luka Doncic 42
t-5. Joel Embiid 42
7. Steph Curry 40
t-8. Lebron James 39
t-8. Kevin Durant 39
t-8. Damian Lillard 39
t-8.Nikola Vucevic 39
12. Bradley Beal 38

It shows just how great his season has been
